INTERACTIVE POWER SPEAKER SERIES



Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa hosted Genworks Power Speaker Series in Social Sciences Block Auditorium on 24th November 2018. The theme for the session was ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship challenges in Emerging markets’.

     

Innovation is the key to Entrepreneurship. As an aspiring entrepreneur, if a student intends to get ahead then he or she must begin to innovate. As a future leader they need innovation, but don't have the strategies in place to get the desired results. Unlike some other business strategies, innovation does not come with a clear-cut blueprint. Instead, they need to understand the rules of innovation in an emerging market to get the results they aspire for. 






The event featured industry experts from various industries like finance, marketing solutions, oil & gas and healthcare namely Mr Babu Krishnamoorthy, Founder of FINSHERPA Investment services, Mr. Shantha Kumar, CEO of Blueoshan, Mr. Neelakantan, Head HR- Unconventional Oil & Gas, Reliance Industries, Mr. Ganesh Prasad S, CEO GenWorks Health, Mr. Mansoor Ahmed Mohammad, Ms. Geetanjali Roy Chowdhury and alumni Mr. Sanjit Roy Chowdhury.




Director, Dr Fr. Jossy P George addressed the gathering and reiterated the fact that CIM strengthens the foundation of knowledge by its constant support and motivation. Fr Jossy asserted that part of transition from being a good student to a successful alumnus is believing in yourself and being confident in your area of expertise.




The interactive session with the industry experts helped the students gain a broader view of innovation in creating value from Innovation to Solution to Transformation phase and the leadership traits needed to demonstrate navigation through the challenges each phase will unfold in their career.

     


The first session was entirely about Attributes of a Business Idea - For raising Funds by Mr. Babu Krishnamoorthy, Founder, FINSHERPA Investment Services.

 


Mr. Babu Krishnamoorthy, Founder of FINSHERPA Investment services has over 20 years of experience in wealth management, insurance and merchant banking. An accomplished entrepreneur and executive leader with a strong portfolio of successes orchestrating startup, growth and optimization of diverse businesses.



Mr Krishnamoorthy is an expert in identification, analysis, and resolution of diverse operational issues, continuously maintaining top performance while offering superior services. He has set an example for being an exemplary team player and resilient leader with solid communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. He has been nominated by CNBC TV18 as the best advisor in 2006 & 2009.Apart from Finsherpa he has Co-founded PELICAN WEALTH MANAGERS PVT. LTD. & Headed ALLEGRO CAPITAL ADVISORS’s private banking practices & Insurance broking vertical.



The session covered aspects of attributes of a business idea from fund raising perspective, building a financial model and typical mistakes entrepreneurs make with funds etc from the eyes of an investor.

     

The second one was about Digital Marketing Savviness -  A must for Aspiring Entrepreneur in order to survive by Mr. Shantha Kumar, CEO, Blueoshan.



Mr. Shantha Kumar, CEO of Blueoshan is a Marketing professional with 24 years of international experience. His expertise is in designing and implementing Marketing Technology-lead, Inbound Marketing Solutions. He commenced his journey in the digital marketing space in mid-2000.


He started his career as Jr. Executive in Madras Consultancy Group after which he moved to Lapiz Digital Services & Thirumalai Chemicals Ltd. As Sr. Manager-Marketing. He was Head of Marketing at Amex IT Ltd. Which is now known as  TUTIS Technologies. He was Vice president at QuScient Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Before founding BlueOshan.


He had the opportunity to work in 5 different (entirely) domains such as Education, Healthcare, e-Publishing, Legal,and Tax & Accounting.



It was quite innovative and made the students ponder over their ability to create leads, build trust and intimacy with those who need them the most, and then convince them you're the most relevant choice. This session covered innovative digital marketing trends that encouraged and motivated their brand awareness.





     


The next one dealt with HRM for Entrepreneurship and Innovation by Mr. Neelakantan, Head HR- Uncoventional Oil & Gas, Reliance Industries.




 




Mr. Nilakantan, Head HR- Unconventional oil & Gas at Reliance Industries Limited is a seasoned HR professional with a career span of 25 years, and has proven capabilities in providing solutions to business problems using a judicious mix of data and people insights. He has worked with a wide range of industry sectors ranging from Consumer Durables, Office Automation, Pharmaceuticals, steel, Apparels and Oil & Gas.

He is currently working as a Head - HR (Unconventional Oil &Gas) with Reliance Industries Limited over 6 years in their Exploration & Production and Transportation Business. Above all he is proficient in handling Comp & Ben, Reward & recognition, Performance Management, Talent Management, Workforce planning, Employee Relations, Engagement initiatives.



The session covered basic skills and knowledge an entrepreneur should know to formulate HR practices as important drivers of a firm's ability to accept risk while being innovative. The students learnt how organizations in today’s dynamic and complex environment need to become more entrepreneurial and identify new opportunities for sustained superior performance.

     

Finally the last but not the least session featured Genworks Journey of Innovation & Entrepreneurship for a Healthier India by Mr. Ganesh Prasad S, CEO, Genworks Health.



Mr. S Ganesh Prasad , Founder, MD & CEO at GENWORKS Health is a senior leader in the Indian medical devices industry. Over the last 25 years he has been driving adoption of transformational & emerging technologies and their commercial applications with a consistent track record of influencing market growth by improving penetration of these technologies to enable higher quality of care.

Mr. S Ganesh Prasad is known for his leadership in reading market trends early, predicting changes with extensive experience in building, turning around & operating across multiple business segments.


He is the Founder and CEO of GenWorks Health – a young, unique, disruptive company started in 2015 with a mission to serve the under-served Indians with end-to-end healthcare solutions that can usher in quality, affordable and accessible healthcare.



Building a robust healthcare ecosystem will save lives and lead to a healthier India, which is the foundation for existing and emerging business to thrive in any sector across India. An amazing 3 years Entrepreneurship journey of this company across tier 2 and 3 towns of India with innovative healthcare proved to be an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs.



The session provided a great opportunity for the students to gain first hand account of concepts that they have learned in the classroom. The students asked pertinent questions to the distinguished panelists and the entire event was highly interactive in nature.


The entire event was eloquently anchored by Deepshikha Sinha and Venkatesh Kulkarni.

It was overall coordinated by Assistant Professor Jobin Jacob, Head of Placements and corporate relations who strongly believes that achieving success in life requires a lot of passion and enthusiasm towards whatever career an individual selects and CIM has always been encouraging. Finally Ayana Singh proposed a vote of thanks at the end.






It was a great opportunity to connect with corporate leaders and gain insight into various industries. It was a great learning experience for the students when they interacted with the erudite and immensely experienced key note speakers during the Power Speaker Series. Each session lasted an hour and Christites got an opportunity to learn valuable entrepreneurship lessons from the industry experts and a chance to be mentored by them in future.
