VISIT OF M COM STUDENTS FROM NAIPUNNYA COLLEGE, KERALA



Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa strongly believes in staying connected with other colleges and thereby nurture deeper bonds with them. There is always a great learning experience and through mutual collaboration or partnership, it cements the bond further.

16 M COM students from Naipunnya College, Kerala visited CIM, Lavasa from Monday, 12th to Thursday, 15th November 2018 under the aegis of Campus Connect program. During a period of four days they interacted with students and faculty members of CIM, Lavasa.



On 12th November 2018 Dr.Fr. Arun Antony welcomed the delegates in the Smart Room and greeted them warmly. Fr Arun wished them to be interactive and enjoy every activity that was specially designed for them. The academic session began with a lesson about Excel in Finance by Assistant Professor Soumya V. It was quite erudite and Ms Soumya explained the details in a systematic way for the general understanding of the students.

Then the students from Naipunnya College, Kerala gave presentations and they were assessed by Counselor, Ms Arpita Ghosh and Assistant Professor Sanjay Sahai. The topics were GST – Fying Petrol Prices, Aadhar – Problems faced by citizens, Glass ceiling – women in the IT industry in Thrissur and A study on NPA.

It was noticed that almost all of them began on a pleasant note and had good voice modulation. The students spoke well and also had command over the language.  At times it appeared that they were conscious of the presence of the audience. As a general observation it was noticed that the PPTs were very impressive. It was a good option to include a video and a proper time planning added to the overall effect.

Any educational trip is incomplete if they do not take out time to go around scenic Lavasa. The students and their teachers were spellbound by the sheer beauty of this private city. They thoroughly enjoyed strolling on the promenade, relished the eateries, clicked endless pictures and admired the calm and serene environment. They unanimously agreed that CIM, Lavasa offers a breath of fresh air and proximity to nature makes it very conducive to any kind of learning.

On 13th November 2018 in the first half there were lectures by Dr Fr Arun Antony, Professor Binu Paul and Assistant Professor Sanjay Sahai. In the second half there were interactive combined mentoring sessions with selected CIM students. Later in the evening an interesting cultural program was presented by the students of Naipunnya College, in the amphitheater by the students and it was highly admired and appreciated by everyone. Much to everyone’s delight, after a hectic day the students found it befitting to go on a nature trail. It was worth exploring the pristine beauty of Lavasa. 






An industrial visit to Infosys was planned on 14th November 2018 and it gave them a meaningful insight into the corporate world. Assistant Professor Jyothi escorted the students. There was an orientation session by Ms Rashmi Vali, Lead Employee Relations about Infosys. It was a very insightful information which focused on how Infosys was conceptualized by Mr. Murthy at Good Luck Cafe, Pune and funded by Mrs Sudha Murthy.

The introduction was followed by an interactive session for students where values of Infosys 'Clife' were presented by students as a short film. The emphasis was on Client Value, Leadership, Integrity and Transparency apart from Fairness and Excellence.
The students gave a commendable performance and Ms. Rashmi’s candid feedback for each student was received very well.

Next there was a session by Mr. Punit and Indraneil. Matters pertaining to Finance and Accounting were chiefly discussed and they also provided future prospects for the students. Another point of discussion was how each business adds more value in millions and billions with the passage of time.  



Then the students went for a campus tour and they were highly impressed by the well-equipped board room and the ambience. Most of them aspire to work at Infosys. The students noticed a self-sustainable environment. They had hopes in their hearts and dreams in their eyes as they bid good bye to Ms Rashmi and expressed their gratitude for an eventful day.

On 15th November 2018 the students went to Pune for a visit and from there they went back home after an insightful, meaningful and excellent stay at CIM, Lavasa. All the eventful four days always ended with sumptuous dinner. In all it was a great learning experience for the students of Naipunnya College, Kerala as they spent valuable time at CIM, Lavasa.
