ETHNIC DAY ’18 CELEBRATED WITH FUN AND FROLIC

India is a land of unity in diversity and Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa is a prefect representation of such an amalgamation because students hail from all over India. The learners from different regions, study and work in close coordination with each other. Such ethnic diversity adds an element of richness to our society and it also teaches students to be tolerant and appreciative of other person’s culture. India is known for its rich cultural history, and the unique bond that binds our country is our ability to accept and appreciate a multicultural society.

`Ethnic Day’ is a much sought after event at CIM as the students eagerly look forward to display their distinct culture and tradition and celebrate our legacy. It was celebrated in its true spirit on Saturday, 3rd November 2018.

The event began in a traditional style as musicians played Chanda, a cylindrical percussion used widely in some parts of South India. The drum beats were in sync and created an atmosphere of welcoming the gathering warmly. In his welcome address Director, Fr Jossy George appreciated the vibrant and colourful campus and reminded them of their culture which is a way of life. He articulated that ethnic day is a catalyst of a group of people who are defined by different cultures. Despite so many differences, India still stands firm as a strong nation. People here are connected through love for one another and that’s the only language that and keeps them united in all aspects. These are the pillars of society. Fr Jossy urged everyone to eliminate the wrong practices in our society and be proud of our rich culture and heritage. Retired AF officer, Gp Capt JK Pandey felt elated and proud to see students from different parts of the country represent their culture on the stage. As they showcased their talent, it was an enriching experience for the students and the audience. He wished for a grand success of the event.

At the outset there was an interesting and interactive Antakshari at Social Science Block. It was fun to watch the students take part in it enthusiastically. It was a sight to behold the students dressed in colourful and traditional costume walk down a ramp with aplomb. Despite being conscious initially, soon inhibition was shed and they confidently displayed their best. The best part was the enthusiastic participation by the students. The event was anchored by Torini and Eric at Social Science Block.

Next they proceeded to the promenade in continuation of the celebration. There was an air of festivity all around as charming girls and handsome boys gave a state wise dance performance. They grooved to the beats of foot tapping numbers in perfect sync with each
other. The Christites radiated smile and each time they burst into peals of laughter it added to the atmosphere of gaiety. It was a moment of fun and frolic and everyone, be it students or faculty, enjoyed it immensely. Later the dance floor was thrown open for general public. The students maintained the dignity and decorum of the college and involved the public in their celebrations. The event was successfully coordinated by Assistant Professor, Ashish G Wilson.
