INTERACTIVE ROLE PLAY ACTIVITY CONDUCTED BY MARKETING CLUB
Teaching at Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa is not just relegated to learning the basics but equal emphasis is given to combining theoretical background knowledge with practical application.
On 4th January 2019 Marketing Club conducted an interesting and interactive role play activity for its students. The fun filled activity tested their marketing skills and strategies to handle a given situation. The topics were quiet interesting and different from the routine. One of them was `You are to sell a lux strawberry bar of soap to the Sentinelese tribe without getting killed’.
The winning team’s topic was, ` Tom Cruise is the new brand ambassador for MTR masalas In India’. They came up with a brilliant mission to rescue someone and Tom Cruise had to use MTR masala to pacify his wife whom he had left halfway through dinner to save the life of another woman! Eventually he uses MTR masala to make up with her!
The team which stood second got an equally interesting topic. It was `You are to market a mobile phone in a village – The year is 1950 – Design the marketing campaign accordingly’. They did a brilliant job by communicating in local language to reach out to the villagers. The participants created a real life scenario on the stage, wherein there was a long queue outside a telephone booth and two people walked past with a mobile phone. Such a simple action inspired the others to purchase one as well.
The second position was shared with another team and their topic was very creative and unique. It was `You have been given the task of selling ice cream in Siberia (Where temperature is never more than -10 degree) – How will you get consumers to buy your product on a regular basis?’
For third position the topic was `Market children’s diapers in village - skit on promoting children's health’.
Overall the activity was quite innovative and creative. The students enjoyed it thoroughly and it was a great learning experience for everyone.
