CIM FRATERNITY WARMLY WELCOMED

Fr Jossy P George, Director, Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa warmly welcomed the CIM fraternity on 3rd January 2019 when the college reopened after the winter break through a motivational presentation aptly entitled ` Focus Driven Excellence’.

3rd January is marked as Founder’s Day. Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the Founder of the religious congregation Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (C.M.I) is a role model and his vision is made manifest in the institution. He has left his indelible marks in the spheres of education, social reform, media, culture and religious formation. India’s first indigenous religious congregation for men, C.M.I was his brainchild. In 1831, along with the support of Fr. Thomas Palackal and Fr. Thomas Porukara, the C.M.I was established which sparked off a spiritual renovation in the Church.

Fr Jossy glorified the achievements of Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara and inspired the students and faculty members to emulate the lessons learnt from his life. The highly inspirational presentation was a perfect beginning to a new year, a new trimester, new challenges and new decisions. Fr Jossy reiterated the importance of using time judiciously as it is a crucial time for the seniors and new students pertaining to placements and SIP respectively.

Fr Jossy mentioned the academic pedagogy, the ambience and a self-driven force which will motivate the students to excel academically, emotionally and socially. He gave an apt example of a horse which has blinkers that obstructs all kinds of distractions. In order to achieve excellence and offer service focus is mandatory. Fr Jossy forewarned the students that they may not get what they want and have to cross many hurdles but eventually they will get what they deserve if they are focused in life. Like Founder, Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara they ought to have inner and outer focus. They must reflect on their dreams and control their inner world by employing self-awareness. This deep insight will help them to attain a dream of their choice. They must also be far sighted enough to connect with others by empathizing with the needs, thoughts and feelings of others. This in turn will lead to a wider vision wherein they will be able to contribute to the society on a large scale by exploring the implications and opportunities that lay ahead.

Fr Jossy’s inspirational presentation instilled a new faith and hope in the hearts and minds of young Christites and encouraged them to take the initiative and coordinate with others and try to be an extra ordinary person in life.

At the end of the presentation everyone felt that New Year is the perfect occasion to appreciate all the good things that the past year has given and all the good things that are yet to come. Director, Fr Jossy P George wished everyone a year filled with new hopes, joys, beginnings and success.
