National Conference on Management Research and Studies (NCMRS 2019) conducted by Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa




The world is progressing in leaps and bounds globally. Besides the challenges that business establishments face in almost every field, their place in the socio-economic and politico-legal environment is daunting, as unprecedented changes are happening frequently. The growing importance of the worldwide web and its ubiquitous interference with every aspect of human effort has thrown up many opportunities hitherto unknown. At the same time, fresh challenges of security and privacy have raised an alarm. And, the need of the hour is to face it as a reality.

The first edition of National Conference on Management Research and Studies (NCMRS) was organized by Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa on 9th and 10th March 2019. The sole aim was to provide a platform to corporate, academics, researchers and students to deliberate the opportunities coming up and take measures to meet the ensuing challenges. It also aimed to offer suggestions, come up with insights that will help academicians to face the challenges in the corporate sector. The conference intended to provide the right environment for meaningful interaction between researchers and professionals and give the participants an opportunity to express new ideas or a new perspective to address an existing concept.




The objective was to generate new ideas that will assist in the growth and survival of businesses. It also aimed to add to the existing body of knowledge of management research and identify new areas for deliberation and research.


The theme of the Conference, therefore, was – “World of Opportunities: Business @ the Speed of Thought”. Besides research paper presentations and deliberations, the event was followed be a very vital workshop on `Cyber Laws and Cyber Security as it is evolving’. The participation of students and faculty members added value to the conference.


The event began on 9th March 2019 with an inaugural function in the Conference Hall with a welcome song and lighting of the lamp. Director, Fr. Jossy P George, Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa addressed the delegates. Mr. Vikas Sahay, IPS addressed the gathering as the Chief Guest and then Mr. Jitendra Tanna, a keynote speaker, spoke about the relevance of the conference.



The second session of the conference on the same day began with presentation of research papers published in a collaborated journal (CIKITUSI) in two different class rooms as Track 1 and 2. Track 1 was chaired by Dr. Ganesan and the judges were Dr. Rajasshire Pillai and Dr. Rama Kawade. Whereas Track 2 was chaired by Dr. Asha Nagendra and the judges were Dr. Kalini Bhat and Dr. Benny J.Godwin.


From CIML Professor Dr B. P. Paul and Assistant Professor Soumya V ACSI presented a research paper and one case study on `Dividend Discount Model (DDM)’. It was a study based on select companies from India and won the best paper award in NCMRS Conference.


Assistant Professor Dr Jayant Mahajan’s topic was `Explore the reasons for fallout of consumers in the online buying process’. Assistant Professor Jyothi Priya and Assistant Professor Sanjay Sahai from Finanace Department published a case study entitled ‘The Access to Finance Dilemma: Case Study of a micro enterprise in Lavasa’ in the International Journal for Multidisciplinary Research. Venkatesh Kulkarni from Marketing presented a paper on `Realizing the dream of private smart city’.


The winners of the track 1 was Mr. Amaresh Nath and the topic was `Facebook Mirrors Existential Anxiety’ and for Track 2 it was Mr. Digvijay and he presented a paper on `Factors driving perception towards Social Branding in Indian context’. The track winners have won a prize money of Rs.10,000/- for each paper. The overall winner of NCMRS’s best paper was Mrs. Soumya V and she won a prize money of Rs.15,000/-.






On 10th March 2019 there was a workshop on Cyber Security and Cyber Laws by Mr. Sanjay Sahay, IPS. It was followed by a meaningful talk by Dr. Padmakumar Nair on Career 4.0 and the eventful two day conference ended with a prize distribution ceremony. The Conference
