Director's Inaugural Address - World Intellectual Property Day

Today we commemorate World Intellectual Property Day. On a broader term, we know that intellectual property refers to copyrights, patents, etc. It’s what is common knowledge to us. But on a deeper, more extensive level, intellectual property and the rights that accompany it serves for purposes that are highly significant to businesses, innovations, and creativity. One aspect of this is how essential enforcing the same is for the protection of small and medium businesses and helping them flourish in this capitalist economy. Intellectual properties are vital thus to the development of not just large industries but even small enterprises and individuals to thrive and find their place in the world.

On this note of encouragement, I hope this discussion will throw some light on the significance of this day and the larger significance of intellectual property and its rights. I extend my appreciation to the Head of Law department, Dr Daisy Alexander and her department staff for organizing this event to mark the importance of this day. I hope all of you present here today, will gather insight and further knowledge on this topic from today’s discussion

Without further ado, I welcome you all to today's discussion!
