ARBITRAZ’21 - FINANCIAL FEST

ARBITRAZ’21 was an intra-departmental fest organised by The School of Commerce, Finance, and Accountancy. The theme for the fest was ‘Finance and Analytics Event’. It was a two-day event held on 25th and 26th November 2021. The event was organised for students of the BCom Department for all the first, second, and third-year students.

The main objective was to challenge students in different aspects of business and test their skills in various scenarios and situations. This will allow them to learn, grow and get a more detailed understanding of competitiveness and Finance acumen.

These healthy interactions not only enhance the students’ interpersonal and communication skills but also prepare them for the real world.

The event consisted of mainly six events:-
  • Cryptoverse - The Cryptocurrency Event (Team of 3)
  • Portoquest - The Investment and Portfolio Creation (Team of 2)
  • Trust Cooperatives - The Financial Literacy Event (Team of 2)
  • Bankathon - The Banking Event (Team of 2)
  • The Exchange Room - The Stock Market Event (Team of 3)
  • Riskokapital - The Risk Management Event (Team of 3)


Organisation and Participation :

The Organisation Committee comprised of students from the BCom Department under the guidance of the Faculty Coordinators - Dr Mahesh Kumar T and Prof Amala Siby. Total registrations received for this event were 210.

ABOUT THE ROUNDS:


CRYPTOVERSE – The Cryptocurrency Event

Tasks were conducted on Crptospaniards.com, wherein participants were required to keep a check on their investments. They can invest in cryptocurrencies mentioned by the team and many more.



PORTOQUEST - The Investment and Portfolio Creation

Investment & Portfolio Creation Event evokes the fund management and portfolio modeling skills of the participant. With a rigorous routine of Investment and Portfolio creation rounds, one can explore this arena of the financial sphere.

TRUST COOPERATIVES - The Financial Literacy Event

Financial literacy is the ability to understand and effectively use various financial skills, including personal financial management, budgeting, and investing. Financial literacy is the foundation of your relationship with money, and it is a lifelong journey of learning. This event provides you with the experience of inculcating different areas of finance in a well-curated form of rounds. This event aims to give prosperity to people who are deprived of financial services.

BANKATHON - The Banking Event

Banking has been around since the first currencies were minted - perhaps even before that, in some form or another. The Banking industry explores the dynamic, fast-paced flow of money, shares, credit, and investments. To deep dive into this constantly adapting and changing world of banking filled with new challenges.

THE EXCHANGE ROOM - The Stock Market Event

Do you think you have what it takes to Beat the Market? The event provides a litmus test of the participants’ ability to challenge real market scenarios by gauging their knowledge, skills, guts, intuition, reactiveness, and temperament.

The elements of the event push an aspiring trader through the rounds of fundamental as well as technical assessment based on stock picks to trading and bidding, before declaring the true winner. Hence, be greedy when others are fearful; and fearful when the rest are greedy!

RISKOKAPITAL - The Risk Management Event

Risk management is the process of identification, analysis, and acceptance of uncertainty in investment decisions. A successful risk management program helps an organization consider the full range of risks it faces. Risk management also examines the relationship between risks and the cascading impact they could have on an organization’s strategic goals.



EVENT FLOW:

The Inauguration Ceremony started on 25th November 2021 at 1:30 PM. Khushi Gurunani of 3BCom B commenced the ceremony by giving insights on the event followed by an encouraging message of the Head of the Department – Dr Vandana Bhagat and then everyone was enlightened by the message of Director and Dean – Dr Fr Jossy P George. Then Dr Fr Arun Antony gave the presidential address and thus the fest and various rounds commenced.

After rigorous rounds of each event for two consecutive days and many eliminations the final valedictory ceremony was held on 26th November 2021 at 5:30 PM. the General Introduction about the event was given by Alisha Rukhsar of 3BCom A. The Welcome Speech was presented by Merin Thomas of 3BCom B. Moving ahead the ceremony was enlightened by the words of our Academic Coordinator - Dr Fr Arun Antony. The newsletter – The Ledger was presented by Prof Aaron George who introduced the same. The report for the event Arbitraz’21 was presented by Sweta Nandi followed by a glimpse video for all the rounds and events throughout the two days.


The most awaited part of the two-day event came up with the declaration of winners and the runners-up for all the rounds. The winners for various events are as follows: -

Cryptoverse –

The tremendous amount of time and hard work of the organizing team and all the faculty coordinators and also the dedication of all the participants was acknowledged via a vote of thanks which was proposed by Dr Mahesh Kumar T And thus, the event ended successfully.
