WORKSHOP ON ‘DIGITAL FORENSICS AND CYBER CRIME INVESTIGATIONS’

The Department of Data Science, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus organized a workshop on 'Digital Forensics and Cyber Crimes Investigation.' on 20th November 2021 from 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM. The resource person for the event was Dr Manish Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Master of Computer Applications, M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. The event was attended by around 250 participants, consisting of students and faculty members.


The occasion commenced with the welcome address delivered by Prof KT Thomas welcoming Dr Fr Jossy P George, Dean and Director, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, Dr Fr Arun Anthony, Academic Coordinator, Dr Samiksha Shukla, Head of Department of Data Science, Dr Manish Kumar, the speaker for the day, the faculty members, and students. Mr Libin Chacko introduced the resource person for the day, Dr Manish Kumar. The session was then handed over to Dr Manish Kumar, who greeted everyone and expressed his thanks for the arrangement of the workshop.


Subsequently, he transitioned into the theme for the session by providing a brief overview of the state of cybercrime in the contemporary context. Through his presentation, he gave a statistical insight into the cybercrime trends by explaining hypothetical scenarios (such as email hacking) to give the students a greater understanding of the topic. He further highlighted topics such as mobile cybercrimes, traps in UPI or banking applications and the utilization of digital forensic sciences in military, law, and business. Finally, he briefed the students about the 3 A's of forensic sciences and presented a pictorial representation of the forensic principles.



At the end of the session, the speaker clarified the queries raised by the audience. The session concluded with Mr Libin Chacko Samuel delivering a vote of thanks to the speaker for his insightful talk and thanked everyone for joining, thus bringing the programme to an end.
