GUEST LECTURE ON DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING – AN OVERVIEW WITH REAL-TIME EXAMPLES

The School of Commerce, Finance, and Accountancy of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus organized a Guest Lecture on Distributed Computing – An overview with real-time examples on 11th November 2021 from10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.


The session started with a two-minute silent prayer. Miss Athmakuru Thanmayi Meenakshi from 3Bcom A commenced the session by explaining the Guest lecture series on Distributed Computing. The Head of the Department, Dr Vandana Bhagat gave a small introduction about Distributed Computing and began the session. This was followed by Miss Sweta Nandi’s (from 3Bcom A) introduction of the resource person: Venkatesan Hari Krishnan. 


Mr Harikrishnan started his presentation with what is distributed computing, what is the difference between Centralized and Distributed computing, what are its advantages, and where it is applied. His presentation continued with more technical details of Distributed Computing with the help of flowcharts. To have an in-depth knowledge of the topic he used memes and an E-poll to check our understanding of the topic.


There was a short break for 15 minutes.



In the second hour of the lecture, Mr Harikrishnan addressed questions from the audience, during which “Tesla Coming to India” was a hot debated topic that went on for ten minutes. Then he directed the audience to the quiz section of the lecture, where there were twelve questions to be attended. In the meantime, he addressed questions from the audience. The quiz went for 20 minutes and for the remaining 20 minutes he explained a real-time application of Distributed Computing on Amazon and how it works. Finally, he wanted the students to give their viewpoints on Distributed Computing, so he intentionally left a slide blank to hear from the students’ viewpoints. Then the session was concluded by AR Alagappan from 3BCOM B who gave the vote of thanks and applauded the guest speaker for his immense efforts.

PANEL DISCUSSION ON LEADERSHIP & ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT SKILLS

The School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy organized a "Panel Discussion on Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development Skill " on 4th March 2022 at 1:30 PM at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus.   Ms Ayushi Chandna student of 6 BCom (Financial Analytics) commenced the session with silent prayer & briefed about the Panel Discussion. INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DATA SCIENCE, COMPUTATION AND SECURITY - IDSCS’22

The Third International Conference on Data Science, Computation and Security (IDSCS-22) hosted by CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus in association with Springer from 11th to 12th February 2022. The conference was conducted online with participants from all across the globe. The conference commenced with the inauguration ceremony at 9:30 AM. Dr Pooja Batra was the Emcee for the occasion and began with the Lighting of the Lamp, followed by a prayer song performed by the students of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus.
