WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY - TREE PLANTATION DRIVE

The Department of Data science organized an Environment Awareness program – Tree Plantation Drive on 05th June 2022 at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus.

Led by United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP), World Environment Day has been held on the 5th of June every year since 1973. It is regarded as the biggest international day for the environment and has now grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach.

People across the globe join in to make attempts to protect and preserve the planet. With a similar aim, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa Pune Campus conducted a Tree Plantation activity in the amphitheatre. Led by Dr Kaushik, two trees were planted by Fr Jossy P George. The samplings of Neem and Giloi were planted as both these trees are not good air purifiers but also because they have immense health benefits.

Trees act as our natural protectors. From holding onto the soil to prevent landslides to helping us breathe safer and cleaner air, trees are continuously aiding in living our life. This plantation activity was our way of contributing a little to the better of the ecosystem.
