LINKEDIN PROFILE WORKSHOP

The workshop on developing the LinkedIn profile was organized by Finance Club – Harmony. Mr. Vishal Rampalle - Talent Acquisition, TCS and Ms. Tatwadnya Ganeshkar TCS were the resource people for this workshop. The participants were from MBA First year and Second Year with total of 140 students out of which only 137 were present.

Finance Club Harmony had its 2nd workshop on 9th December 2022, where Prof Mohit Boralkar conducted the event with the support of Dr. Danish Hussain and the coordination of Placement Committee. The activity commenced at 1:30 PM in the presence of Prof. Mohit Boralkar, Dr. Danish Hussain, Prof. Shrutika Mishra, Prof. Tanya Sharma, Placement Coordinator Mrs. Irudaya Mary Daniel and all the MBA students.

The speaker Mr. Vishal Rampalle is specialized in the field of human resource management and information technology from Savitribai Phule Pune university. He is primarily involved in sourcing, screening, recruitment, induction, and Onboarding activities at TCS. He also does Client Handling and Client Management at the organization. He is also responsible for the Campus recruitment and Talent Development activities for TCS as well.

The other speaker Ms. Tatwadnya Ganeshkar is a Management Trainee at TCS. Earlier she was at the position of Recruiter at TEKsystems. She completed her MBA HR from HNIMR College. She is primarily involved in Recruiting, Employee Engagement, Data Verification, & Human Resource (HR).

The event started with the headline of how to use LinkedIn and its merit. The speakers tried to interact with the crowd with the question of ‘what is LinkedIn?’ Then the speakers talked about LinkedIn and its uses as: publishing, recruiting, job posting, creating profiles, learnings, and advertising. The speakers also gave us an insight about the courses available on LinkedIn and where one can find them. Adding onto the discussion, different icons on LinkedIn were also discussed. Another interaction was observed between the speaker and students with the question of ‘How HR find resources from LinkedIn?’

Next, the speaker moved onto the post stage of creation of LinkedIn profile. Then the speaker further related LinkedIn with making of tea, that one should always choose the right ingredients (applicants) for the right tea (position). The speaker then gave more weight on the display picture, banner, cover picture and the professional headline.

Then the speaker talked about the summary section of LinkedIn as 87% of the recruiters go for summary and TCS is among one of those. They asked students to start branding themselves, the business, and their expertise. One should also have as many connections as possible to have better reach for desired positions. The speaker Ms. Tatwadnya Ganeshkar said that “In order to have better chances of getting selected, your LinkedIn profile should stand out from others. Use tags, hashtags, be active on LinkedIn, & post constantly.” The workshop moved onto the student learnings as follows:

Complete your profile, make sure it talks about your skills and abilities.

Update status regularly.

Make personal invitations to connect with people.

Join and engage in groups to build networks.

Follow the companies of your interest.

The event came close to an end with Q&A session where students asked questions regarding LinkedIn and how can one generate leads there, the bad practices etc.

The event ended where Dr. Danish Hussain felicitated Mr. Vishal Rampalle and Placement Coordinator Mrs. Irudya Mary Daniel felicitated Ms. Tatwadnya Ganeshkar. And with that, Mehak Sharma gave the vote of thanks and the workshop ended successfully.

The event was interactive, full of zeal, enthusiasm, and curiosity. Students were able to self-analyse their knowledge and were able to learn new things about LinkedIn.
