MOU Signing

The department is signing a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) with Smartail Pvt. Ltd (EdTech Company for AI Powered Products), Chennai, TamilNadu on 05-12-2022 between 12.00 to 01.00 p.m at Board Room, Central Block. As an Artificial Intelligence based product developer for education and industry, Smartail will work with Christ University, Pune in providing its DeepGrade AI for assessment and dashboarding.  On its part, Christ University, Pune will collaborate with Smartail in providing interns from each of the English based subjects not exceeding 3 per subject in a quarterly period (ex: Maths, Science, Social, English, Commerce, Accountancy, Statistics, Data science) for handson exposure, testing and validating one or more of Smartail’s products. The period of internship would be 4 calendar months and working days are from Monday to Saturday, after college hours. Smartail also provides the flexibility of working from remote provided the intern is equipped with minimum of a 4GB RAM laptop, good internet connection. However initial one week of handholding training would be provided at their Chennai office only. The MoU outlines Christ University, Pune participation in implementing, testing and validating one or more of the educational products from Smartail. Participation in Smartail Product Implementation, Testing and Validation etc. The scope of early trial program would be 

-           On Boarding to DeepGrade SaaS Platform

- Configuring User Details and Start of Trial

- Usage of Platform on day-to-day basis

- Provide feedback and enhancement requests 

- Raise support issues/tickets

- Trial and Usage of all upcoming feature set

- Active participation of the upcoming features trial

- Provide customer testimonial and participate in customer product satisfaction survey

- Participate in the product trainings 

The students will undergo a technical interview upon building a machine learning or artificial intelligence model. The model will be reviewed by a team of faculty experts and based on the performance the students will be taken to next round. The students will be designated as Data Science and Software Engineering Programming Track Interns. The internship is about to start during 15th January and extends for a period of 4 months. The students will be provided with an official user name and password for logging into their online github platform through which task assignment and evaluation can take place. The following are the terms and conditions of the internship :

1. The confirmation of the employment is subject to your satisfactory performance which will be evaluated at the end of internship and probation periods.

2. The students are expected to live Company Values, Professional Ethics, Code of Conduct and always abide by the policies during your stay with the company. They shall not take up parallel assignments during this assignment with the company and promise to dedicate your time for the intended goals of the program.

3. Internship certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the assignment and demonstration of satisfactory performance at end the internship based on formal reviews.

4. The internship program is designed as a training and learning experience with an objective of providing industry exposure and real-world business environment.

5. During the course of your assignment, they will be exposed to confidential information pertaining to the Company and it’s business operations, markets, customers, products, services and know-hows how. They are bound by the confidentiality agreement which will be required to be signed along with this offer letter (Annexure-B).

6. Company operates under strict requirements of Data privacy and security. All the work output produced through the research, development, and the data belong to the company, and they undertake should not be disclosed or published without prior written approval from the authorized signatories of the company.

7. Company reserves the right to assign them to projects or tasks based on business priorities.

8. They need to  agree to comply with operating protocols such as regular reporting of work progress, documentation, source code control and on-time attendance to meetings and reviews. They need to inform the assignment leader and HR on your leave requirements and take prior approvals to ensure compliance to HR policies.

9. Owing to the criticality of the position and the nature of responsibilities, 90-days’ notice period will be required to ensure smooth hand over and transition. Discontinuing the assignment halfway will not quality for Internship Certificate or Academic Credits for which they have been selected. If they had to discontinue the assignment, they shall give a written notice to the HR and line manager and discuss the transition of tasks and information.

10. Email is our official communications mode for all HR operations. They need to agree to adhere to the business etiquettes, courtesy, and professionalism all the time. Discussing sensitive information on WhatsApp or social media chats or anything outside of authorized company tools (Official Emails) is strictly prohibited.

11. They need to agree to abide by the company policies and the company core values during your tenure with the company.

12. During internships, unless company determines a need for special HW/infrastructure for the project, they will be using their own resources or the college/university lab/infrastructure, the company will not be entitled to provide these benefits or any monetary compensation. Company will provide necessary tools and equipment to carry out the job based on the business needs anytime during the engagement with company.

13. They need to agree to ensure to protect the company from virus/malware through compliance on their part.

14. They will be required to travel to any of our offices and/or any of the customer locations in India or abroad depending upon the project needs

15. They shall not indulge in any other professional activities while in service with company other than academic commitments which will be agreed between the institution and the company, failing which will be treated as a material breach of this contract.

16. All other terms will be as per the company policies that will be updated from time to time.

18. Due to the extant ongoing pandemic, you will be working virtually until further notice. Company will communicate the date when you should report to our office in Bangalore, Karnataka

The proposal was signed between two parties and Dr.Fr.Jossy P George and Fr. Justin P Varghese authorized the proposal. Dr.Lija Jacob, Head, Department of Data Science and Dr.J.Lekha, Associate Professor, Department of Data Science witnessed the proposal.
