Canva Workshop in Collaboration with Law Department

As part of the ongoing Faculty Development Programme (FDP), the Department of Law at CHRIST University, Pune – Lavasa, in collaboration with the Centre for Academic and Professional Support (CAPS), organized an exclusive series of hands-on Canva workshops tailored for faculty members. These sessions were conducted across three days—29th, 30th July, and 2nd August 2025—with the primary objective of enhancing visual communication and digital design proficiency among academic professionals.

The workshops were facilitated by Bharat Garima, Faculty Mentor at CAPS, who brought a unique blend of technical expertise and creative insight to the training. The sessions were structured to accommodate varying levels of familiarity with design tools, ensuring inclusivity and effectiveness for all participants. The core focus was on exploring Canva’s user-friendly interface and diverse functionalities, allowing faculty to unlock their potential in creating visually compelling academic content.

Participants were introduced to the foundational aspects of Canva, including layout design, typography, color theory, and image editing. As the sessions progressed, more advanced techniques such as animation, infographic creation, video editing, and branding were covered. The hands-on nature of the workshop allowed faculty to apply what they learned in real-time, leading to the development of practical outputs like visually enhanced presentations, academic posters, social media content, and class materials.

Beyond the technical training, the workshop emphasized the importance of visual storytelling in academic communication. Faculty members were encouraged to rethink how information is presented to students, peers, and external stakeholders, moving towards more engaging and impactful methods. Through interactive demonstrations, personalized guidance, and peer collaboration, the sessions fostered a culture of creative exploration and innovation.

The response from the faculty was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed newfound confidence in navigating digital tools and highlighted how the training would significantly contribute to their teaching and academic dissemination. The initiative also served as a platform for internal knowledge sharing, where faculty could exchange ideas on integrating design tools into their pedagogical practices.

The success of the workshop series reflects the collaborative spirit of the Department of Law and CAPS, and their shared vision of continuous professional development. It also marks a step forward in equipping educators with relevant 21st-century skills that align with evolving academic and institutional demands.

A special note of gratitude goes to Anto Sir for his unwavering support and trust in this initiative. His encouragement and belief in the capabilities of both faculty and CAPS team members made this event possible and impactful.

In summary, the Canva FDP workshop series not only strengthened faculty competencies in digital design but also reinforced CHRIST University’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and professional growth.
