Prarambh 2025-2026
The School of Business and Management and the School of Humanities and Performing Arts organised the inaugural ceremony for the first-year students titled Prarambh 2025-26 on August 12, 2025. Held in the university auditorium, the event marked the formal beginning of the academic journey for the incoming cohort. The programme was thoughtfully curated to offer students a blend of tradition, academic insight, and motivation. The day commenced at 9:00 AM with students assembling in the auditorium. An audio-visual presentation followed, providing a comprehensive introduction to the campus and university life. Dr. Rimi Nandy, serving as the emcee, welcomed the gathering and set a warm and enthusiastic tone for the proceedings with her opening remarks.
A highlight of the inaugural session was the Lighting of the Lamp ceremony, symbolising the light of knowledge dispelling the darkness of ignorance. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Director, Academic Coordinator, Chief Guest, Associate Deans, Heads of Departments, and Batch Coordinators. This solemn ritual was followed by an Introductory Prayer led by Dr. Fr. Lijo Thomas, offering a spiritually uplifting start to the event. To honour the institution’s commitment to diversity and values-based education, selected faculty members presented readings from sacred scriptures—The Bhagavad Gita, The Quran, and The Bible. This interfaith segment highlighted the inclusive ethos of the university. Dr. Shine Raju then shared a reflective passage from the writings of Blessed Chavara, prompting the students to pause and contemplate the deeper purpose of their educational journey. This spiritual segment concluded with Intercessory Prayers led by faculty members, invoking blessings for the students’ success and well-being, followed by a final prayer by the Academic Coordinator, Fr. Justin P. Varghese.
Dr. Fr. Lijo Thomas, Dean and Director, then addressed the students with words of wisdom and welcome. He encouraged them to pursue academic excellence, cultivate discipline, and embrace holistic development throughout their university life. Emphasising the importance of a growth mindset, he urged students to view challenges as opportunities, remain resilient in the face of setbacks, and commit to continuous personal and intellectual growth. The Chief Guest, Ms. Ruchika Rathi, a distinguished corporate trainer, delivered an inspiring address centred on career planning, goal setting, and academic discipline. Her insights on navigating the professional world resonated with the audience and offered a valuable perspective on future readiness. As a token of appreciation, the Director felicitated the Chief Guest following her address.
The Heads of Department, Dr. Richa Srishti (Department of English & Cultural Studies, School of Humanities & Performing Arts) and Dr. Nikhil Varghese (BBA, School of Business and Management), then addressed the students with motivating messages. Rather than focusing solely on academic outlines, they encouraged students to engage with their programmes proactively, approach learning with curiosity, and take full advantage of the opportunities the university offers. Their messages aimed to set a positive tone for the semester, inspiring students to make the most of the opportunities ahead. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Bipllab Roy, expressing gratitude to all contributors and participants. This was followed by the University Anthem and closing General Instructions for the students, marking the end of the inaugural ceremony.
