University Induction Program

As part of the two-day University Induction Program hosted by the Office of Human Resources, the Centre for Academic and Professional Support (CAPS) conducted an engaging and insightful orientation session for all newly joined faculty and staff members. Held on 30 July 2025 at the Management Block, this session was an integral part of the larger induction framework aimed at helping new employees integrate seamlessly into the Christ University community. The CAPS session was designed to introduce the Centre’s unique role and responsibilities within the university ecosystem, especially in supporting the academic, professional, and research-related growth of students, faculty members, and researchers. The session opened with a warm welcome, followed by an overview of the Centre’s vision and mission. CAPS, a flagship initiative of Christ University, is committed to building a vibrant culture of academic mentorship, peer-led learning, faculty development, and holistic skill enhancement. Attendees were taken through the three-tier structure of CAPS functioning:

Academic Support: CAPS facilitates peer-led tutorials, faculty-requested academic assistance, remedial classes, and writing support. It encourages a collaborative learning environment where students are mentored by well-trained peer educators and guided in their academic journey.

Professional Development: New faculty were briefed on the various workshops, FDPs, and certification programs that CAPS hosts throughout the academic year. These include training on interpersonal skills, leadership, research writing, presentation skills, and digital tools—each curated to enhance both student and staff competencies.

Volunteering and Mentorship Initiatives: CAPS coordinates a wide array of volunteering programmes that include peer mentoring, event management, operations, and research. These initiatives not only promote civic engagement and leadership but also empower students to become co-creators of campus culture.

The session highlighted how faculty members can collaborate with CAPS by recommending students for support, requesting academic modules, or partnering on mentorship, research, or training projects. Moreover, the audience was introduced to the structured training modules designed for student volunteers and interns, many of whom go on to take leadership roles across departments.

Real-world examples of CAPS-supported projects and testimonials were shared to illustrate the Centre’s impact across campuses. The team also introduced their upcoming plans for inter-departmental collaborations, research dissemination, and expanded professional support services.

The session concluded with an open-floor discussion, inviting questions from the attendees and offering a collaborative tone for future engagements. Participants expressed appreciation for the proactive support that CAPS offers and were encouraged to make the most of the Centre’s services throughout the academic year. Through this induction, CAPS reaffirmed its commitment to empowering the university community to learn, lead, and grow—aligning closely with Christ University’s broader vision of excellence and holistic development.
