Induction Counselling

The Induction Counselling Session, conducted by the Centre for Counselling and Health Services (CCHS), was organized to warmly welcome the freshers of Christ University and their parents as they embarked on this new chapter of their academic journey. The session aimed to provide students and parents with a clear understanding of the university’s systems, facilities, and the various forms of support available to them, ensuring a smoother transition into campus life. The counsellors emphasized that beginning university was not only an academic milestone but also a personal journey of growth, and they reassured everyone that the institution was committed to supporting students at every step.

The programme began with a detailed introduction to the campus facilities. The counsellors highlighted practical services designed to make daily life more comfortable. They explained that students residing in hostels had access to free transport to the campus, while additional bus services were made available to Pune on Sundays for ease of travel. Parents were also informed about supplementary amenities such as laundry and gym facilities, which could be availed on a yearly subscription. The food services were described in detail, with the Compass Group managing the mess facility to ensure nutritious and hygienic meals. The counsellors further emphasized the importance of academic resources, drawing attention to the libraries located in every block, with the Central Block library functioning 24/7. They also mentioned value-added services such as WiFi configuration, parcel delivery, and healthcare assistance, including the presence of Apollo Shine Clinic doctors and qualified campus nurses who were always accessible to students whenever required.

Shifting focus to academics, the counsellors introduced students and parents to the KnowledgePro (KP) portal, which serves as the central hub for monitoring attendance, marks, and academic progress. A demonstration of the login process and navigation features was given to ensure clarity. Particular emphasis was placed on the 85% attendance requirement, which is mandatory for all students. To streamline leave applications, the counsellors explained the use of Blue, Yellow, and Pink forms, each designed for specific circumstances. Parents and students were also reminded that all official updates and communications would be made solely through the university email system, reinforcing the importance of checking emails regularly and staying consistently updated.

Another key highlight of the session was the focus on emotional and psychological wellbeing. Recognizing the challenges of transitioning to a new environment, the counsellors reassured students and parents that it was natural to take time to adjust. They emphasized that no concern was too small and that the CCHS team was always ready to listen, guide, and support. Whether it was homesickness, academic stress, or personal struggles, students were encouraged to seek help without hesitation. The counsellors stressed that the university views mental health as an essential part of student success and that timely support could make a meaningful difference in one’s overall university experience.

In conclusion, the induction counselling session not only introduced the freshers to the university’s systems but also built a bridge of trust between parents, students, and the institution. By addressing practical needs, academic systems, and emotional support, the session reassured families that Christ University is committed to nurturing students holistically—academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Induction Counselling Session served as a valuable orientation, bridging the gap between students, parents, and the university. By addressing academic systems, campus facilities, and emotional wellbeing, the session reassured families that they are not alone in this transition. Students were reminded that challenges are natural but support is always within reach through CCHS and the university’s dedicated services. The programme highlighted that growth at Christ University extends beyond academics, encompassing personal development and resilience. Ultimately, the session reflected the university’s commitment to creating a supportive, informed, and nurturing environment where every student can truly thrive.
