TRAINING SESSION FOR NON TEACHING STAFF

Training Session for Non Teaching Staff

An interactive training session for the non teaching staff was conducted on 20th September 2018 by retired IAF officer, Gp Capt J K Pandey. Director, Fr Jossy George introduced him and motivated the members to be interactive during the session.
At the outset the training session focused on issues that were common to all departments such as how the staff needs to deal with the queries of the students seeking admission. He stressed on the need to maintain the books of accounts as per the regulations in vogue and charter of duties.

Gp Capt Pandey stressed upon the need to project the college with a positive outlook. He advised them to speak to the students and parents with courtesy and politely at all times highlighting the activities and achievements of the college. They ought to mention the conducive environmental conditions, the accommodation, qualified faculty and the visiting guests who address the students from time to time.

He further touched upon the maintenance of property books while focusing on its importance and need. Disposal of outdated and defaced books of the library and the methodology for procurement of new books was discussed in detail. The annual stock taking of books needs to be done by an independent body with recommendations for disposal of old books.

He further highlighted aspects of security staff, their training, ability to deal with contingencies like medical, fire and safe guarding the assets of the college. It was observed that the staff needs to be trained more on fire fighting for which the services of the Fire Department of Lavasa could be considered.

The accounts department needs to have broad guidelines so that the funds received could be earmarked under various heads for the coming year. In doing so the requirement could be projected by each department and a procurement plan chalked out.

All the departments were asked to draw out their KRAs (key result area) for the next quarter and work towards achieving the same. Gp Capt Pandey answered their questions and encouraged them to be more proactive in handling their duties. The informative training session began at 9.30 am and ended at 12.45 pm.
