Evaluating DISC Assessment Link




The students of of 3PGDM had an insightful interactive session with Ms Gowri Balasubramanyam on 25th February 2019. Ms Gowri is the Global Head -Learning & Organizational Development at Hinduja Tech Limited. She is a certified behavioral and talent analyst, a professional certified Coach (PCC) from International Coach Federation (ICF) and a master practitioner of NLP. She has successfully designed large-scale global learning interventions, spearheading new initiatives and designing and executing leadership development programs. As a passionate organizational development professional she has hands on experience in conducting training sessions for middle and senior management level employees. She has worked with Cognizant and Paypal.
Her interactions with the students during the first hour of the day was extremely interesting. She asked the students to access the free DISC assessment link on Anthony Robbin's website and told them that she would take them through the evaluation of scores. The students asked pertinent questions and she answered them patiently.

D(Dominance) I(Influence) S (Steadiness) C(Conscientious) ie. DISC is a simple, practical, easy to remember and universally applicable model. She explained the concept and mentioned that it focuses on individual patterns of external, observable behaviors and measures the intensity of characteristics using scales of directness and openness for each of the four styles.
Ms Gowri further explained how every organization needs all types of styles. With respect to leaders, when one understands their style they know how to get the best out of their team. Like wise in Marketing, when one can understand the customer's dominant style, one can analyse the market accordingly. The students were impressed by Ms Gowri's style of conducting the session and it was a great learning experience to know that each dominant style is symbolised by a bird. Such as a D person is symbolised  by an Eagle, the I type by Beacon, the S type by Dove and finally the C type by an Owl. 

The hour long interactive session was interesting, knowledgeable and important. The students expressed a desire to have more of such sessions in future.
