Momentous Meeting With Rev. Bishop Antony
It was an honour for the faculty members of Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa to have a brief interaction with Rev. Fr. Kannikadass William Antony, Bishop of Mysore on 8th February 2019 in the campus. Rev. Bishop Antony is a member of the Diocesan College of Consultors, of the Diocesan Financial Council and of the Mysore Diocesan Society (MDS), as well as the Diocesan Public Relation Officer (PRO) and the Defender of Bond at the Diocesan Tribunal, in the Diocese of Mysore.
Director, Fr Jossy P George introduced him as a missionary with a vision. Rev. Bishop Antony played a vital role in the transition of the college from Christ College to Christ University, Bengaluru. He articulated his ardent desire to see CIM, Lavasa rise up to that level as it has the potential to scale greater peaks of excellence in future.
Rev Bishop Antony was mesmerized by the beauty of Lavasa when he went on a city orientation tour and he fondly recalled his visit nearly 10 years back.
While working in close collaboration with present Vice Chancellor of Christ University, Bengaluru, he insisted upon quality education without compromising on the standards. The university has grown in leaps and bounds from 2000 to 4,000 students. His selfless and persistent contribution lay in maintaining discipline, streamlining the chain of events, ensuring punctuality and discipline in the college.
Christ University is a much sought after university currently and it has branched in various cities. Rev Bishop Antony introduced innovative job oriented semi-professional courses like BBM, BHM, Computer Electronics etc. to bring about a radical change in terms of quality in the education system.
He glorified Pune city as it offers a congenial atmosphere for students and research work.
He pointed out to a very pertinent trend at present which focusses on science and technology and one has to be at par with the latest information in order to survive. It will facilitate adjusting to the current trend as it is the era of minutest specialization. Rev Bishop Antony motivated the faculty members of CIM to be well versed with the latest information pertaining to their respective subject in order to help a student have a fruitful learning experience in the college. The brief meeting was highly inspirational and it left a dep impact in the minds of the faculty members.
