GELP Workshop – Diversifying your E-Portfolio: Developing your Personal Brand is a half-day workshop that will allow students to engage with resource persons engaged in creating leaders around the globe in an interactive experiential environment that will include keynote speakers, professional skill development, games, networking and career development opportunities. Miss Ananya Rena was the Emcee and organised the event throughout. She introduced the speaker,Gwen O’Mahoney, and briefed her about GELP. GELP is a social enterprise aimed at developing leadership programs for students and young professionals.

GELP values lifelong learning and the opportunity to build connections and bridge the gap between relevant skills and new careers. At GELP, they aim to provide relevant skill-based learning and experiences that challenge the next generation to discover young minds in their reflective journey and to identify their next career or pathway. The GELP team consists of indigenous elders, indigenous knowledge keepers, academic professionals, entrepreneurs and social innovators. Gwen O’Mahoney, a member of GELP and also a member of the legislative assembly who is from Vancouver started the session by defining what a brand is, branding, the importance of first impressions, etc. She continued with the need for a power pose and types of headshots that could be included in the biography, she also mentioned how these helped with her professional accomplishments. She made the session interactive by making the students form groups of 4 and asking them to tell 5 fun facts about themselves. Then the students were asked to proceed to the auditorium for the next session.

In the next session, students were asked to divide themselves into groups of 10 and a member from GELP assisted each group providing support to create a prototype of a new product or a business plan with the recyclable materials they were asked to bring to the workshop. The students were given 20 minutes to complete the task. Each group was given one minute to present its business idea. After the presentations were done, the results were to be announced to the winning team through their respective mail IDs.The emcee later proposed the vote of thanks for all the dignitaries and the students. It was a fun filled and learning experience for all the students involved. The session ended with a vote of Thanks by Miss Ananya.
