SKILL ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

1. Placement Training by Ms. Irudaya Mary Daniel

The students were briefed on the recruitment process followed in companies. This helped them gain the perspective of the employer and prepare for placements more thoughtfully.

2. Creating an Impact by Ms. Arpita Gosh

The session was centred around student well being and helped students establish their career outcomes. It helped students take a step back and examine the trajectory of their actions and identify the scope for improvement.

3. Communication Skills through Theatre by Dr. Jibrael Jos

The 5Ps of public speaking – planning, preparation, practice, performance, and passion were introduced by the resource person. The use of different emotions in expressing oneself was also discussed. 

Games and activities were conducted to practice Observation Skills and the use of engaging opening lines while story telling was practiced.

4. Workshop on Taxation Laws by CA Shantanu Darak and CA Aishwarya Dalvi 

The workshop is organized to serve the need of industry connect of BBA students. The resource persons were from the Finance industry and both of them were qualified Chartered Accountants. They have shared their expertise with the students in the area of Corporate Taxation. The sessions conducted were a blend of discussions and hands on practice with the calculation of  tax liability for the “Business and Profession”

5. Workshop on FinTech Technologies by Mr. Kartik Swaminathan

The workshop was about the Financial Services+ Technology which included 

  • Automation
  • Regulation
  • Security
  • Unbundling and Bundling
  • Digital
  • Big Data & Analytics
  • Social Media
  • Identity
  • The placement training session helped students got a better understanding of the recruitment process.
  • The session on Creating an Impact helped students establish career objectives and improve their well being.
  • The session on Communication Skills through Theatre enabled students to express themselves more accurately and improved their confidence while speaking
  • The Workshop on Taxation Laws helped students learn multiple concepts and calculation about computation of Income under the head of Business and Profession. A few of them are as follows:

  1. Differences between business and professions
  2. Where profit is realised in any form other than cash, the cash equivalent of the receipt on the date of receipt must be taken as the value of the income received in kin.
  3. Payment voluntarily made by persons who were under no obligation to pay anything at all would be income in the hands of the recipient, if they were received in the course of a business or by the exercise of a profession or vocation
  4. Depreciation shall be allowed on Written Down Value of the block of asset in respect of Owned wholly or partly; and Used for the purpose of the business or profession.
  5. The assets should be actually used by the Assessee for the purpose of his business or profession.
  6. Depreciation has to be compulsorily charged as per the provisions of the Act.
  7. Students also learned about the different deductions made under the head of Business and Profession.

  • Complete knowledge about FinTech industry, how the FinTech companies work, what is their business model and how they earn and why the future lies with FinTech.
  • The students learned sixty-three themes which were connected through three frameworks
