PLAY WEEK 2023

The Department of Data Science and Data Science Association (DSA) organised The Play Week. It was a team building and integrity event where individuals with different skills and interests get a platform to showcase the same. At the core, the event aimed at being fun filled and frivolous in nature. It was an intra-department sports event which included Hard Core Sport Events: Football, Badminton and Box Cricket, and High Intensity Lively Sport Events: Dodgeball, Kho-Kho and Tug of War.

Football and Dodgeball matches took place on 13th February, Badminton and Kho-kho matches happened on 15th February and Box Cricket and Tug of War matches were on 16th February. The Finals were conducted on 4th March 2023.


Preliminary Rounds:

This round was spread across the week from 13th to 16th February 2023. The events were categorised into two sections - Hard Core Sports and High Intensity Lively Sports. The Hard Core Sports section consisted of football, badminton, and box cricket, while the High Intensity Lively Sports section consisted of dodgeball, kho-kho, and tug of war.

Football:
The football event was held on the 13th of February on the Football Turf at the Central Block. Each half of the game was 30 minutes, and each team consisted of 9 players. It was an intense game that saw all the teams giving their best. However, in the end, 4BSC DS emerged as the winners and 2BSC EA as the runners-up. Finals were held between these two teams.

Badminton:
The badminton event was held on the 14th of February at the Gazebo in the Central Block. Each match consisted of 3 sets of 15 points each. It was a closely contested match that saw all the teams displaying their skills. In the end, 2MSC DS B were the winners for women and 4BSC EA for men, and 4BSC EA were the runners-up for women and 2MSC DS B. The finals of the event were held between these teams respectively.


Box Cricket:
The box cricket event was held on the 16th of February at the Basketball Court in the MBA Block. The game was held in a confined space to increase the difficulty and thrill involved. Each inning consisted of 14 overs, and each team had 7 overs. Only 2 bowlers were allowed to bowl a maximum of 2 overs. It was a high-scoring game that saw both teams displaying their skills and 2MSC DS B were the winners and 4BSC EA were the runners-up. The finals of the event were held between these teams.

Dodgeball:
The dodgeball event was held on the Football Turf at the Central Block on the 13th of February. The finals of this event happened on the same day. 4BSC DS emerged as the winners while 2MSC DS B were the runners-up.

Kho-Kho:
The kho-kho event was held at the Gazebo at the Central Block on the 15th of February. 4BSC DS emerged as the winners while 2MSC DS A were the runners-up. The finals of the event were held between these teams.

Tug of War:
The Tug of War event was held at the Gazebo at the Central Block on the 15th of February. 2MSC DS A emerged as the winners while 2MSC DS B were the runners-up. The finals of the event were held between these teams.


Finals:

The finals for all the events happened on 4th of March 2023 at the respective locations.

For football, from 4BSC DS and 2BSC EA, the latter were the runners-up while the former were the winners.

For badminton women 2 MSC DS B were the winners while 4BSC EA were the runners-up and for badminton men 4BSC EA were the winners and 2MSC DS B were the runners-up.

For box cricket, 2MSC DS B were the winners and 4BSC EA were the runners-up.

For kho-kho, from 4BSC DS and 2MSC DS A, the latter were the runners-up while the former were the winners.

For tug of war, 2 MSC DS A were the winners and 2MSC DS B were the runners-up.

The results of dodgeball were decided on 13th February itself; 4BSC DS emerged as the winners while 2MSC DS B were the runners-up.
