Sculpt Your Imagination

Clay Modelling Workshop: Sculpt Your Imagination: The Clay Modelling Workshop titled “Sculpt Your Imagination”, organized by the Art & Creative Club in collaboration with the Department of English and Cultural Studies, was a vibrant and enriching creative initiative aimed at nurturing artistic expression among students. Held on 13th November 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Social Sphere, Central Block, the workshop invited participants to immerse themselves in the calming and imaginative world of clay art.

The session was facilitated by Dr. Sangeeta Jawla, Assistant Professor, Department of English and Cultural Studies, whose guidance played a pivotal role in shaping the workshop’s interactive and exploratory nature. Dr. Jawla introduced the participants to the basics of clay modelling, discussing the versatility of clay as a medium and its expressive potential. Through simple demonstrations and step-by-step instructions, she encouraged students to loosen their creative boundaries and let their ideas flow freely through their hands.

From the beginning, the workshop created an atmosphere of openness, relaxation, and creative curiosity. Students were encouraged to visualize any form that resonated with them—whether inspired by fictional characters, cultural symbols, personal memories, or abstract concepts. This allowed each participant to engage with clay in a deeply personal manner, transforming imagination into meaningful shapes and structures.

As the session progressed, the Social Sphere buzzed with enthusiasm and the gentle hum of focused creativity. Participants experimented with different techniques such as rolling, pinching, carving, and smoothing, discovering how each gesture could influence the final outcome. Dr. Jawla moved around the space, providing personalised guidance, answering questions, and motivating students to embrace imperfections as part of the artistic journey.

The workshop served as a refreshing break from academic routines, offering students an opportunity to unwind while immersing themselves in tactile, hands-on artmaking. It also encouraged peer interaction, as students shared ideas, exchanged techniques, and admired each other’s creations. For many, it was a first-time experience working with clay, and the sense of achievement was evident as they completed their unique artworks.

More than just a creative activity, “Sculpt Your Imagination” highlighted the importance of art in promoting emotional well-being, mindfulness, and self-expression. The session reaffirmed the role of creative clubs and interdisciplinary collaboration in fostering holistic development within the campus community.

By the end of the workshop, participants walked away not only with a handcrafted piece of art but also with a renewed appreciation for creativity, patience, and the joy of making something with their own hands. The event successfully achieved its aim of creating a space where imagination could take shape—literally and figuratively—making it a memorable and inspiring experience for all who attended.

Overall, the Clay Modelling Workshop was a delightful celebration of creativity, collaboration, and artistic exploration, leaving students motivated to continue engaging with the arts and discover new avenues of self-expression.
