The Photography Club FOCUS, in collaboration with the Centre for Digital Learning (CDL), successfully organized a practical photography workshop titled “Frame It Right! – A Practical Workshop on Posing & Framing” on 19 January 2026 at 5:00 PM. The session was conducted at the CDL Office, Management Block, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. The workshop was exclusively organized for CDL students with the objective of enhancing their practical understanding of photographic composition and visual storytelling.

The session focused on strengthening the foundational concepts of framing and posing, which play a crucial role in creating visually compelling photographs. The workshop began with an introduction to the importance of framing in photography and how thoughtful composition can transform an ordinary image into a powerful visual narrative. The resource person emphasized that framing is not merely about placing the subject in the frame but about guiding the viewer’s eye and conveying intent through visual elements.

Key components of photographic framing were discussed in detail, including the Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, Symmetry, Balance, Depth, and Natural Frames. Students were introduced to how the Rule of Thirds helps in achieving balanced compositions by placing subjects along imaginary grid lines. The concept of Leading Lines was demonstrated using real-world elements such as pathways, railings, and architectural lines to direct attention toward the subject. The session also covered the effective use of foreground and background to create depth and enhance subject isolation.

In addition to theoretical explanations, the workshop strongly emphasized hands-on practical learning. Students actively participated in practical exercises where they applied the discussed framing techniques in real-time scenarios. Participants experimented with various angles, perspectives, and poses, gaining firsthand experience in composing shots using natural light and available surroundings. The practical activities encouraged students to explore creative viewpoints and understand how minor adjustments in framing can significantly impact the final output.

The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion where students shared their observations, challenges, and learnings from the practical session. The resource person provided constructive feedback and tips for improving composition skills through regular practice and observation. Overall, “Frame It Right!” proved to be an engaging and insightful session that successfully enhanced the participants’ understanding of framing and posing, equipping them with practical skills applicable to academic projects and real-world photography assignments.
The event reflected the Photography Club’s commitment to nurturing creative and technical skills among students and strengthening experiential learning through collaboration with CDL.
