Viventis 2025

Viventis’ 25 marked a milestone as the first intra-university edition of the Model United Nations (MUN) Conference at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa, held on December 4th and 5th, 2025. This dynamic event aimed to sharpen students’ skills in policy analysis, structured diplomacy, research methodologies, and international negotiation. By simulating real-world diplomatic processes, it fostered a deeper understanding of global challenges, equipping participants with essential competencies for informed citizenship and leadership.
The conference unfolded across six diverse committees, each tackling pressing geopolitical, socio-economic, and national issues. These included the United Nations General Assembly - Disarmament and International Security Council (UNGA-DISEC), United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM), and the International Press Corps. Delegates immersed themselves in rigorous activities: thorough research, drafting concise position papers, moderated and unmoderated caucuses, collaborative resolution building, and formal voting procedures. This hands-on approach mirrored authentic UN proceedings, encouraging critical thinking and strategic alliances.
Key deliberations highlighted the conference's relevance to contemporary crises. UNGA-DISEC focused on bolstering international mechanisms to counter the weaponization of critical infrastructure, such as cyberattacks on power grids and transportation networks. The UNSC grappled with the security implications of Iran’s nuclear program and its regional provocations, weighing sanctions, diplomacy, and escalation risks. ECOSOC delegates debated fortifying social protection systems amid surging inequality in post-crisis economies, proposing inclusive policies for vulnerable populations recovering from pandemics and conflicts. Meanwhile, AIPPM addressed India-specific challenges, exploring reforms to ensure free and fair elections by closing loopholes in political funding and electoral governance—timely amid ongoing debates on transparency and equity.

The International Press Corps added a vibrant layer, delivering real-time journalistic coverage. Delegates produced live reports, conducted on-the-ground interviews with committee members, crafted investigative articles, and issued press releases, simulating the role of global media in shaping public discourse.

The event kicked off with a ceremonial inauguration led by the Organising Committee, setting an energetic tone. Over two intense days, students demonstrated exceptional prowess in reasoning, articulation, negotiation, and collaboration. They navigated complex global conflicts, from cyber threats to electoral integrity, forging resolutions that reflected nuanced, multilateral solutions.
Viventis’ 25 not only showcased the intellectual caliber of CHRIST Pune Lavasa’s students but also cultivated a campus culture of informed diplomacy. By bridging theory and practice, it inspired participants to engage proactively with real-world issues, promoting empathy, evidence-based debate, and cooperative problem-solving. This inaugural intra-university MUN sets a high benchmark for future editions, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to holistic education in an interconnected world.
