Enhancing Legal Research Skills through Manupatra: A Training & Orientation Session
The Library & Information Center, in association with the School of Law, successfully organized “Enhancing Legal Research Skills through Manupatra: A Training & Orientation Session” on 11 April 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Central Block Auditorium, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. The session was conducted by Mr. Swapnil Bhamre, representative of Manupatra, Pune. The programme was designed for students and faculty members of the School of Law with the objective of strengthening their legal research skills through effective utilization of the Manupatra legal database.
The event commenced with a welcome address highlighting the importance of digital legal research tools in contemporary legal education and practice. Participants were introduced to the significance of online legal databases in facilitating efficient access to legal information and supporting evidence-based legal research. The resource person emphasized that proficiency in legal research platforms has become essential for law students, academicians, and legal professionals in an increasingly digital environment.
During the training session, Mr. Bhamre provided a comprehensive overview of the Manupatra platform and demonstrated its various features and functionalities. Participants were guided through the process of conducting case law searches, accessing Bare Acts, legal commentaries, journal articles, and other authoritative legal resources available through the database. The session also covered advanced search techniques, including the use of keywords, filters, citation references, and search refinement tools to retrieve precise and relevant legal information.
A key highlight of the programme was the hands-on and interactive nature of the training. Participants actively engaged with the resource person through questions and discussions related to legal research practices and database usage. The event was coordinated by Mr. Santosh and Miss. Reshma Kurup, whose efforts ensured the smooth planning and execution of the programme. Support from the Campus Development and Logistics (CDL) team for publicity, photography, and videography, along with technical support from the IT team, contributed to the successful conduct of the event.
