Transforming Research into Publishable Papers


The School of Business and Management (BBA), CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, in collaboration with the Research Club, organized a guest lecture titled “Transforming Research into Publishable Papers” on 30 April 2026 from 09:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Management Block Auditorium. The session was conducted as a Participatory Learning Activity for the course BBA 203-4: Statistics and Research Methodology and was attended by 4BBA students. The lecture aimed to bridge the gap between academic research projects and scholarly publication practices by actively engaging students in discussions on research writing, publication processes, journal selection, and research dissemination. Through interaction with the resource person, students gained practical insights into transforming research work into publishable academic papers, thereby strengthening their research and analytical skills.

The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Ishant Kumar, Assistant Professor at Delhi University and a researcher specializing in Startups and Entrepreneurship. The speaker possesses extensive expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and has significant experience in research mentoring, academic writing, and publication practices. The session was designed to provide practical exposure to the process of converting academic research into publishable journal articles and to motivate students towards research-oriented learning and scholarly contribution.

The lecture commenced with an introduction to the importance of academic publishing in the present educational and professional environment. The resource person explained how research publications contribute towards academic excellence, institutional research visibility, higher education opportunities, and professional growth. Students were introduced to the distinction between academic project reports and journal manuscripts, particularly emphasizing the need for concise, focused, and structured presentation of research findings in scholarly publications.

During the session, detailed guidance was provided on the structure and preparation of research manuscripts, including the formulation of titles, abstracts, introductions, literature reviews, methodology sections, data analysis, interpretation of findings, discussions, conclusions, and references. The speaker also highlighted the significance of presenting statistical analysis effectively and maintaining clarity and academic rigor while preparing research papers. Practical insights were shared regarding the selection of appropriate journals, indexing standards, citation styles, and the process of manuscript submission.A major focus of the lecture was on publication ethics and responsible research practices. Students were sensitized to issues related to plagiarism, ethical publication standards, authorship responsibilities, and the peer-review process. The resource person also discussed common challenges faced by researchers while publishing academic work and explained strategies for responding to reviewer comments and improving manuscript quality for successful publication.

The session was highly interactive and encouraged active student participation throughout the programme. Students raised queries regarding journal identification, publication timelines, plagiarism checking, conference publications, and opportunities for collaborative research. The resource person addressed these concerns with practical examples and real-world academic experiences, which enhanced students’ understanding and confidence regarding research publication processes.

The guest lecture successfully achieved its intended objectives by strengthening students’ awareness of academic publishing and improving their understanding of scholarly writing practices. The programme motivated students to look beyond classroom-based research submissions and view research as a meaningful contribution to knowledge creation and professional development. The event also contributed towards enhancing research competency, analytical thinking, academic communication skills, and research culture within the department. Overall, the session proved to be informative, engaging, and academically enriching for all participants.
