Interactive Approach in Pedagogical Practices - The Need of the Hour

Fr Thomas TV, Provincial, Calicut CIM Province and former  Director - Christ University Institute  of Management. Bengaluru addressed the faculty members of Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa on 30th July 2018.

Director, Fr Jossy appreciated the efforts of Fr Thomas in the early stages of the institute's development.

Fr Thomas wished for a dsciplined environment for students to excel in research, scholastic and non scholastic pursuits. It was imperative for personal and professional development an in turn it will effectively contribute to the development of society at large. A faculty development programme can also be designed to suit the needs of the students.

He articulated that a teacher must understand the implications of an interactive approach in pedagogical practices. A teacher must seek to outline methods to modify pedagogy in order to accomplish a desired goal. It can best be done if they formulate newer strategies combined with pedagogy. The students are expected to prepare beforehand, so that class sessions are interactive. Eventually the students will do well in academics, have good communication skills and exhibit commitment towards society. Fr Thomas urged the faculty members to inculcate the habit of reading in the students.

All efforts must be made to take quantum leaps to move away from traditional methods of teaching and incorporate research based teaching. It should be entirely interactive wherein a student feels confident to be a part of research based education. Fr Thomas motivated the teaching fraternity and aim for the welfare of the students.
