Xllenz 2K19 - The Apocalypse
The Intra Collegiate Management Fest (intra campus) – Xllenz
2K19 was conducted on 20th and 21st September
2019 at CIML, Lavasa. It is a precursor to the management festival, XUBRENZ.
The various business-related events were conducted between four clans
namely Knights, Samurias, Spartans and Vikings. The organizing team comprising
of MBA students from the Department of Management Studies, Christ University, Bangalore,
conducted the events flawlessly.
The event began when Director and Dean, Fr Jossy George
unveiled the logo amidst loud cheer. He was appreciative of an excellent
collaboration by MBA students from Christ University, Bangalore. Fr Jossy
inspired the MBA students to learn from the event and later conduct a similar
event for undergraduate students, and in the process be completely prepared
for the mega inter college event scheduled to be held in January 2020. Director
and Dean wished the clan captains success and a wonderful show of team
comradeship during the competitions. He applauded the unflinching hard work by
the Bangalore MBA students in organizing the events methodically and
systematically. Fr Jossy inspired everyone to take wholehearted participation
despite a hectic schedule. He motivated them to consider it as a learning
experience while they enjoy being a part of the event.
Apocalypse can
be defined as the beginning of the end and it showcases the start of the world
ending with the emergence of the four horsemen, the final of which symbolizes
the start of the Apocalypse. The organizing team utilized the theme to showcase chaos and
dystopia that can truly be achieved in a world of anarchy. Leveraging this
situation, they aimed at training the students of Lavasa to be equipped in a
managerial situation regardless of the environment.
The events revolved around Marketing, Finance, HR, BA, B Plan and B Quiz. The unflinching effort
was to create a spirit of healthy competition with specific focus on team
building and test their strategy making capabilities.
The event for Marketing was entitled `Conquest of the
White’. It stood for an act of true conquest as they took over markets and
stormed consumers' minds and preferences.
Finance
students’ event was named as `War of the Red’. It highlighted the
art of war which is a reflection of the meticulous planning involved in the art
of financial planning.
HR students
took part in an event called as `Plague of the Black’. It revealed the
constructive, responsive and adaptive management of the masses as seen during
the great plagues of the past. It was a true semblance of an HR professional.
B Plan’s
event was termed as `Vindication’. The essence of the apocalypse was seen in
the fifth seal which stood for vindication of the martyrs. This showcased the
approach that was first adopted and which eventually resulted in lucrative
outcomes.
Best management
team was also another event and was known as `Judgement’. All seven
seals of the Apocalypse lead up to the moment of judgement when all aspects
involved were considered and scrutinized to determine success.
The last event
was B Quiz, rightly called as `Revelation’ and it tested their
knowledge pertaining to management.
The two-day event offered a great learning experience to the
participants. They learnt out
of the box thinking and were able to offer quick response to real time business
situations. It tested the applicability of concepts learnt across domains. The
best part of the management fest was that it offered an equal opportunity to
prove one’s mettle while it fostered spirit of team building along with impeccable
communication skills.
While the
learning outcome was the prime focus various challenges were also met such as
handling time management in a challenging environment which had diverse
streams and it taught the students to be well prepared with
practical solutions for any unforeseen situation.
The event infused in them a desire to participate in the
right spirit. It nurtured a feeling of comradeship and taught them to work in
close coordination with each other. Each clan gave their best and it was a
pleasure to watch them compete against each other for the coveted titles. They
could be seen encouraging each other and took part in all the activities in the
right spirit.
The following students were in charge of various
events. Saksham and Ankit were in charge of Finance and Harikrishnan and
Kunal looked after Marketing. It was the sole responsibility of Ayushi and
Pragya to handle HR activity whereas Anantha and Prateesh dealt with BA. Selina
and Ayush conducted the event for Best Management Team, Imroz immaculately
conducted the B-Quiz and Sharanya and Khushboo could be depended to coordinate
for B Plan.
The overall co coordinators were Mohd Haseeb and Sai Lekhya,
who handled the entire event meticulously and responded to one and all
promptly. Their professional approach was appreciated by CIML, Lavasa.
