Inauguration Of The Economic Club




The Economic Club, Department of Law and Economics, CHRIST, Lavasa, was inaugurated on 27th September 2019 in the Smart Room, Central Block at 2.30 PM. The speaker on this occasion was Dr K S Hari, Assistant Professor and Post-Doctoral Fellow from London School of Economics and Political Science. He has done M.Phil. in Applied Economics and Ph.D. in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi (at the Centre for Development Studies, Thiruvananthapuram). He did M.A. in Development Economics from the University of Calicut (at Dr John Matthai Centre, Thrissur). His area of specialization is development economics and public economics.

Director & Dean, Dr Fr Jossy George inaugurated the club and spoke about the need for economic analysis and asked students to express their intellectual rigour. Assistant Professor Ginish Cheruparambil spoke about the mission and vision of the Economic Club and urged the students to view the world through the eyes of an economist and Assistant Professor Kedar Vishnu Shankarrao introduced the speaker to the audience.



Dr K S Hari expressed his views on `Current Macroeconomic Situation in India’. Dr Hari spoke in detail about the journey of India’s performance in the world market since independence till date. He gave valuable inputs about the need for structural changes in the economy. The talk ended with a question answer session at the end. The interactive session helped students to ask questions and their doubts were cleared by some insightful information.

The event was coordinated by Assistant Professor Ginish Cheruparambil, Department of Commerce and Management, CHRIST (Deemed To Be University), Lavasa along with Assistant Professor Kedar Vishnu, School of Law & Economics, Christ University, Lavasa.
