Orientation for Senior Students
On August 27th, 2024, the Department of Languages collaborated with the School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy as well as the School of Sciences in organising the Orientation for the Senior Students for Academic Year 2024-25. The event marked a significant moment as senior students returned to campus after the summer vacation, eager to resume offline classes. The event commenced with an encouraging address from the meeting coordinator, who commended both the students and faculty for their resilience in overcoming the challenges posed by Lavasa’s relentless monsoon rains. The coordinator praised the unwavering spirit of excellence consistently demonstrated by the students, urging everyone to continue striving for greatness even in difficult times. This opening address set an optimistic tone, reminding all attendees of their strength, dedication, and ability to thrive amid adversity. Following this, a student led a heartfelt prayer, invoking the Spirit of God to uplift and inspire everyone present. The prayer served as a powerful reminder of the divine guidance that accompanies their academic and personal journeys. It deeply resonated with the audience, harbouring a sense of unity and purpose as they prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the new academic year. The prayer encompassed the importance of spirituality in their lives, reinforcing a shared commitment to personal and collective growth.
The highlight of the orientation was the address by the esteemed Dr. Fr. Lijo Thomas, who spoke passionately about the importance of continuous self-improvement and collaborative effort. He emphasized the need for students to support and push each other toward excellence. Fr. Lijo introduced a new acronym for Lavasa—Living for Change, Adapting to Changes, Vision for the Future, Academic Excellence, Student-Centric, and Agent of Transformation. This acronym set the tone for the expectations he has from the students of the institution, encapsulating the core values of adaptability, vision, and leadership that are essential for shaping their futures. Fr. Lijo also traced the history of the institution, highlighting its foundation on principles that encourage students to be transformers and agents of change. He spoke about the commitment to creating an inclusive and diverse educational environment, where every student is encouraged to grow and develop. Rather than merely imitating others, Fr. Lijo urged students to build and refine their unique identities, a process he described as essential for personal development. The institution, he noted, provides an ideal environment for such growth, nurturing opportunities for students to excel in various aspects of life. His words were both inspiring and motivational, encouraging students to take the initiative and embrace entrepreneurial endeavors, which he identified as key drivers of progress and development.
The event concluded with a session led by the exam office, addressing various topics of interest to the students, following with recommended course of action they can take. This session covered essential academic procedures, including the process for CIA repeats, managing backlogs, and understanding the criteria for graduation and convocation. The exam office provided valuable clarity on these crucial matters, ensuring that students are well-informed and prepared for the year ahead. The orientation reinforced the values of leadership, excellence, and social responsibility, setting an inspiring tone for the academic year
