AI in Education: Transforming Teaching, Research & Academic Administration


The School of Business & Management – BBA, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, successfully organized a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “AI in Education: Transforming Teaching, Research & Academic Administration” from 16th March 2026 to 24th March 2026. The programme was conducted at the Auditorium, Central Block, and Classroom No: 2311 (Management Block). The FDP aimed to enhance faculty awareness and practical understanding of Artificial Intelligence applications in teaching, assessment, research, and academic administration. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Monica L and Dr. Shine Raju Kappil, with participation from 20 faculty members of the BBA department.

The FDP began on 16th March 2026 with a session on AI in Teaching and Learning by Dr. Vinay M, Associate Professor, School of Computer Science, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Yeshwantpur. The session introduced faculty members to the evolving role of AI in education and its relevance in improving classroom engagement. Dr. Vinay discussed AI-supported tools for lesson planning, content creation, interactive learning modules, and personalized learning methods. Faculty members gained insights on how AI can support innovative teaching practices, promote student-centered learning, and improve the delivery of complex concepts through simplified and technology-assisted approaches.

On 17th March 2026, Dr. Vinay M conducted the second session on AI in Assessment Practices. The discussion focused on AI-driven assessment methods such as automated quiz generation, rubric-based evaluation, AI-assisted feedback mechanisms, and plagiarism detection tools. The session highlighted how AI can enhance transparency and consistency in evaluation while reducing the workload of faculty members. Participants also explored the scope of AI in conducting formative and summative assessments and improving academic performance monitoring.

The FDP continued on 18th March 2026 with a session on Christ Consultancy and Incubation, delivered by Ms. Kiran Mariyam, Consultancy Coordinator, Office of Consultancy & Incubation, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore. The session provided an overview of consultancy opportunities available for faculty members and the process of initiating consultancy projects under the university framework. Ms. Kiran explained the importance of consultancy and incubation in bridging academia and industry, encouraging faculty to contribute through research-based consultancy proposals and collaborative projects. The session also highlighted the institutional support systems available for faculty-driven consultancy initiatives.

On 20th March 2026, a session on AI in Research & Academic Writing was conducted by Dr. Bipllab Roy, Assistant Professor, School of Business & Management – BBA, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa. The session focused on the role of AI tools in supporting academic research processes such as literature review, data organization, reference management, and drafting research manuscripts. Dr. Bipllab explained the responsible use of AI for enhancing writing quality, improving structure, and increasing research productivity. The session also emphasized maintaining originality and academic integrity while using AI-assisted research tools.

A major session was held on 23rd March 2026, conducted by Mr. Alwin Joseph, Assistant Professor, School of Sciences and Technology Officer, CHRIST Infotech, Pune Lavasa. The full-day session on AI in Departmental Efficiency & Academic Writing highlighted how AI can support academic administration through automation of routine tasks such as documentation, report preparation, student record management, and departmental planning. The session also discussed AI tools that can support academic writing and streamline administrative responsibilities, contributing to improved efficiency and productivity within departments.

The FDP concluded on 24th March 2026 with two sessions by Mr. Alwin Joseph. The morning session focused on AI in Ethical & Responsible Use of AI, emphasizing ethical guidelines, data privacy, transparency, and responsible adoption of AI in academic settings. The final session introduced EthosTrack: Smarter Student Tracking, where faculty members were trained on the use of AI-based systems for monitoring student attendance, academic progress, and engagement. This session demonstrated how technology can strengthen mentoring and academic support systems. The FDP was highly informative and impactful, equipping faculty members with practical knowledge of AI applications in education. The programme successfully strengthened digital competencies, promoted responsible AI usage, and encouraged faculty to integrate AI tools into teaching, research, and academic administration.
