03 January 2020 - Founder’s Day observed with reverence at CHRIST, Lavasa
CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa observed Founder’s Day, the feast of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805-1871) on 3rd January 2020. It is celebrated on 3rd January every year. This year the day marks 149th death anniversary of St Chavara, leading to 150th Death Anniversary next year and it will be followed by year long celebrations.
St Kuriakose Elias Chavara was a visionary and pioneer who left his footprints and did pioneer work in the field of education, social reforms, communication, literary forms, language and culture. St Chavara inspires the members of the Congregation of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) who administer CHRIST (Deemed to be University) and all the staff and students of the institutions under their care to continue his yeomen service to society. Director & Dean Dr Fr Jossy George wished that may the spirit and vision of our Founder be commemorated in our thoughts and deeds.
Fr Arun gave festal wishes to one and all on the occasion of Founder’s Day. He wished everyone to be proud of the legacy that has been received and continue the mission of being committed to building the future by way of transforming young people into confident citizens. He prayed that may the spirit and vision of our Founder continue to guide us in the years to come.
Soon after the FDP Dr Fr Arun conducted a small orientation program related to the life and works of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara. Many faculty members were well informed about the founder's achievements, mission and vision. In honour of St Chavara a commemoration service will be held on Monday, 6th January 2020. To mark the occasion plum cake was distributed among the faculty members.
