Glimpses from the 4th International Symposium on Current Trends in Research and Innovation (ISCTRI’20)



4th International Symposium on Current Trends in Research and Innovation (ISCTRI’20) was organized by the Department of Data Science, Christ (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa campus- The Hub of Analytics in technical association with Computer Society of India (CSI) on 26th September 2020. The symposium focused on topics related to Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence.
The speakers for the event were: Mr. Derick, the cofounder of Flutura, and Mr. Antony Deepak A, the founder, and CEO of Cindan Technologies.


The event officially commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Samiksha Shukla, HOD, Dept of Computer Science, Christ (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa campus) followed by the inaugural address by Dr. Fr. Jossy P. George, Director and Dean of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa, Pune Campus.



The First session was conducted by Mr. Derick Jose, the co-founder and CTO of Flutura, an Industrial AI company impacting business outcomes in Energy & Engineering. He started with AI applications in industry, both that are being implemented in current era , and that are expected to be in the near future. Further, he explained the scope of applications in some of the fields, such as modern medicine, education, and industrial signal intelligence. He also guided the students with some key points that would help them connect their academic field of learning to the industrial field of application, outcomes and business. His opinion was that students should build themselves as domain experts in their respective fields, and generalists in every field. He explained that the skills required by the 21st century AI expert should be a mix of domain knowledge, AI skills, and human-centric design capabilities.



The next session was conducted by Mr. Anthony Deepak, the founder and CEO of Cindan Technologies, Coimbatore. Mr. Anthony provided the audience with a glance at the uses of data analytics in the industry. He also explained, how implementing these analysis methods would benefit a wide spectrum of industries, from manufacturing to energy. His presentation included examples of everyday analysis of tasks performed at these industries that could potentially bring about drastic improvements in efficiency & profitability.
An outline of the event was provided by Dr. Sumitra Binu (Dept. of Data Science), wherein she gave a brief of all the speakers along with a gist of their respective deliverance. She also advised attendees to focus on the key takeaways from the talks that will help them to be abreast of the recent scenarios in the field of research.



The concluding remarks were delivered by Fr. Jossy P George, Director and Dean, Christ (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa campus wherein he mentioned about the need for more such symposiums and make the students as well as research scholars conscious of the trends in the field of research and innovation.

Mr. Anshul Saxena (Dept of Data Science) proposed the word of gratitude to all the guest speakers, resource persons, faculty members, staff, and attendees of the symposium for the smooth conduct of the event. He also extended word of reverence to the technical team who worked hard for the success of ISCTRI’20.

The symposium, held in association with CSI, was an enriching experience that brought academic fraternity and researchers together to share their ideas on research in the field of data science with the audience from diverse domains.
