Glimpses from Demystifying Gender - School of Management Studies.
A program on Gender Sensitization was organised by the Department of Management Studies, on the topic “Demystifying Gender”. The Chief guest for the event was Ms. Aamna Sultan, Chief Learning Officer, Ureka Education .Ms. Aamna was Academic Affairs Director at Ureka Education and one of its co-founders with more than 16 years of experience in industry and academics. She holds the unique distinction of being the first woman employee of a top 50 Saudi listed company, Yanbu Cement Company, where she was instrumental in establishing the Management Information Systems women’s department and was the torch bearer for women being employed by the company. She has worked with professionals and students hailing from various parts of the world and from diverse professional and personal backgrounds.
The Session began with a digital prayer song followed by an introductory note by Rev. Fr. Dr. Jossy George, Dean, and Director of Christ (Deemed tobe University), Lavasa. Head of Academics -MBA, Dr. Binu Paul spoke on the relevance of organising such programs in the Institutes and appreciated the team for this initiative. Chief Guest spoke on the experiences of her career journey and emphasized the significance of this program conducted in an academic institute. Ms. Sultan conveyed that such discussion will enable to transform the gender power relation and facilitate women and men to support to articulate what they believe in. The guest also spoke on her first-hand experience as a woman in the business world and on the efforts, which contributed to the company.
The events followed were a display of the Movie Clips framed by the MBA students, which included the remarks from students on their views about the empowerment of the women in the society. This was followed by a digital poster presentation that portrayed various Inspiring women in the history of the world which was truly motivational for the students. Ms. Arpitha Ghosh, Senior Counsellor, Christ Deemed to be University, Lavasa gave an insightful talk emphasizing the roles of both genders in all the walks of life.
An exciting part of the session was the Panel discussion on the unexplored topic “Queens bee Syndrome” with lively dialogues from the MBA students; Dsouza Samantha, Sherin, Yaseein, Simran, Mohit, Debopriya, Shambhave and Shabarish.
