PECUNSELL - CUSTOMER ACQUISITION COMPETITION

A Sales Marathon competition was organized by the finance club of the MBA department on 20th May 2022 at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. The competition was titled “Pecunsell - Customer Acquisition Competition”. 


The event was intended to test the students’ finance & marketing knowledge clubbed with business acumen and certain soft skills to meet their sales target of financial products. Considering the event, it was expected that the competition would help the students in developing a deep understanding of financial products and the concepts of how those products are presented in the market. The objectives of the event were to harvest selling skills in finance students, to have an in-depth understanding of various financial products and to promote Financial Inclusion goals as a finance enthusiast. The activity also aimed at developing coordination, cooperation, and leadership skills to ensure the team achieves the assigned target on time. Lastly, the activity tried to inculcate the required skills for being job-ready to work in various verticals of the BFSI sector. The financial products categories that were given to the participants were:
  • Insurance
  • Mutual funds- ELSS
  • Mutual Funds- regular plan
  • Mutual Funds- Direct plan.

The competition had a total of 20 students in attendance. Vedant Prakash, Ojaswita Pragya and Koyena Dewan were the hosts for the event. The event started with a welcome address given by Vedant Prakash.

The activity started with the presentation of group number-07. They gave the sales pitch on Mutual Fund- Direct Plan. Their company was ICICI Prudential. They presented detailed information about their product. Core benefits and financial ratios were also included by the team in their presentation. The next group to present was group number-04. Their product was Mutual Fund- ELSS. This group utilized a comparative technique and presented comparative analyses of various financial products with their financial product. Next came group-03 and their product was insurance. Group number-06 whose product was also insurance gave a very creative presentation. They came up with a very interesting video demonstrating the details of their product. Lastly, group-02 came to present about Kotak Small Cap Mutual Fund. They presented the details regarding the market growth of their product and used it as leverage to pitch their offering.


The activity was a great learning experience for the participants as it tested their domain knowledge of finance and marketing skills. This activity would surely help the students who want to pursue their careers on the revenue side of financial services and products.
