INDUSTRIAL VISIT

On the 17th of May 2022, the students of fourth semester BSc (Data Science), CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus travelled to Pune for an industrial visit to Xoriant Solutions Pvt Ltd Xoriant was founded in the 1990s by an IIT Bombay graduate, Mr Girish Gaitonde.


Mr Akash, Mr Sudeep, Mr Dhawal, and Mr Sameer were all kind enough to walk us through the way of life in Xoriant. Mr Akash welcomed the group of 32 students along with two professors, Mr Libin Chacko Samuel and Dr Lija Jacob, and the Placement Officer Mrs Irudaya to their facility. Further on Mr Sameer addressed the students. He discussed the foundations of Xoriant, the yet evolving nature of Data Science, and encouraged the students to practice projects on the platform of Kaggle, explaining how it would provide the students with some competitive advantage. Mr Sameer informed them about the projects that Xoriant professionals have worked on, branching from Automation Solutions for smart mattress manufacturers, farm boundary detection, NLP in healthcare cuto extract to SAP ARIBA procurement software and legal transcriptions and many more that Xoriant has planned to take over. Throughout his presentation, Mr Sameer opened grounds for questions and discussions and the students actively participated. Important queries about the field of Data Science in the healthcare industry, privacy policies, and costing methodologies were answered. He mentioned how there exist two types of data scientists, one that works without features, professional data experts and one those have domain-specific expertise which reinforced the students to think about their own paths in the future.


The session concluded with a vote of thanks by one of Christ’s own, Ms Arundhati Kolahal. She, on behalf of the entire class and professors, devoted her appreciation for their hospitality. The students were provided with refreshments and allowed a break before a fun session began.

Mr Sudeep hosted a fun session of games for the students. Students participated in the game of blindfold and connection. Lastly, the students had the opportunity to get a peek into the way of corporate life, departments, and after COVID scenarios. The office was beautifully furnished and notes of encouragement spread across the walls. We visited the many departments, cubicles, break-rooms, and the cafeteria. Post lunch, the ride back to Lavasa was filled with joyous kids enjoying a short drive, and singing along to the music.

The students are grateful for this industrial visit, it has motivated them to work hard and cherish the student life whilst preparing for what their future withholds earnestly.

    Thanks for the Support by Xoriant - HEAD HR Team Specially Akash who is really made this happen for us , and it is really a Great Pleasure to be a part of this Industrial Visit Program actually it is a eye opener for all the students of Bsc Data Science and Bsc Economics and Analytics to know what is corporate culture when it comes to job after studies for the first time . PANEL DISCUSSION ON LEADERSHIP & ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT SKILLS

The School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy organized a "Panel Discussion on Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development Skill " on 4th March 2022 at 1:30 PM at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus.   Ms Ayushi Chandna student of 6 BCom (Financial Analytics) commenced the session with silent prayer & briefed about the Panel Discussion. INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DATA SCIENCE, COMPUTATION AND SECURITY - IDSCS’22

The Third International Conference on Data Science, Computation and Security (IDSCS-22) hosted by CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus in association with Springer from 11th to 12th February 2022. The conference was conducted online with participants from all across the globe. The conference commenced with the inauguration ceremony at 9:30 AM. Dr Pooja Batra was the Emcee for the occasion and began with the Lighting of the Lamp, followed by a prayer song performed by the students of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. Dr Samiksha Shukla welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest of Honor, Vice-Chancellor and the keynote speakers for the day and summarized forthcoming events of IDSCS'22.
