EARTH DAY RUN - INVEST IN OUR PLANET

The 5K marathon was organized by the Department of Data Science in ode to celebrate Earth Day on 14th May 2022 at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, under the guidance of Dr Ravikiran Naik as Assistant Professor in Economics in the Department of Data Science. 


The event began with an address and ribbon cutting by Dr Fr Jossy P George, Dean & Director of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. The address was brief and galvanizing for the runners assembled. The event marked the anniversary of the birth of the Modern Environment in 1970. It was an attempt to encourage people to drive transformational change, a measure to find creative solutions to reduce environmental hazards.


The registration was opened x days prior to the event, through google forms sent in emails. The route was University Emblem- SBI Road-Portofino-Dasve Dam-Event Street- University Emblem. Students and faculty members showed enthusiasm alike. The advertisements for the event started a week before the event. Through decoration around the campus and digital posters and through various social media platforms.


There were 60 student participants. Faculty members of the Data Science also participated in the run. There were two categories of runners under students, male and female. The winners, in the male category namely, are Nibin Sebastian (Data Science), Varian Crasto (BBA) and Abhimanyu Kartikeya (Law). In the female category: Khushi Sharma (Data Science), Tamanna Saini (Data Science) and Hitashi Shivram (Data Science). All runners have availed water bottles at every checkpoint and a tetra pack of Mazza at the endpoint. Winners will receive 1001(1st Prize), 701(2nd Prize) and 501(3rd Prize) and e-certificates. Other runners will receive e-certificates for participation.
