On 22nd June, 2023, the MSc and BSc EA students were privileged to attend a guest lecture by Mr. Pankaj, an esteemed expert in the field of finance and capital markets. The event began with a warm welcome address by Ms. Adity from MSc EA, followed by the felicitation of the guest by Dr. Lija Jacob, Head of the Department of Data Science at CHRIST Lavasa Campus.


Opening Remarks by Mr. Pankaj: Mr. Pankaj commenced the talk by introducing himself and expressing his pleasure in addressing the students. He emphasized the crucial role of capital markets in fostering economic growth and the importance of financial literacy in today's rapidly evolving world. He presented a unique equation for calculating savings as income - investment - expenditure, shifting the traditional perspective from income - expenditure.

Understanding Capital Markets: The lecture proceeded with an in-depth explanation of capital markets and their functioning. Mr. Pankaj covered various aspects, including stocks, bonds, derivatives, and investment vehicles. He provided insightful explanations of how these financial instruments work and their significance in raising capital for businesses and governments. Moreover, he offered a holistic view of the capital market ecosystem, shedding light on the roles of investors, traders, and regulators in ensuring efficient market operations.

Investment Strategies and the Power of Compounding: Mr. Pankaj shared valuable insights into various investment strategies, with a focus on the principles of risk and return. The Third International Conference on Data Science, Computation and Security (IDSCS-22) hosted by CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus in association with Springer from 11th to 12th February 2022. The conference was conducted online with participants from all across the globe. The conference commenced with the inauguration ceremony at 9:30 AM.
