The School of Business and Management (BBA), CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus – ‘The Hub of Analytics’, organized a highly impactful career guidance session titled “Shaping Futures: Exploring Careers in Banking Sector” on 25th August 2025. The event was conducted in the Management Block Auditorium from 1:40 PM to 2:40 PM and was exclusively designed for second-year BBA students. This initiative was part of the university’s ongoing commitment to prepare students for future career opportunities and competitive examinations through meaningful industry interactions and expert-led guidance.

The distinguished speaker for the event was Mr. Vivek M. K, Assistant General Manager (AGM) and IT Security Expert at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He carries rich professional experience, having also served with India EXIM Bank and South Indian Bank, making him a resourceful guide for students aspiring to enter the banking and financial services sector. His expertise, particularly in IT Security within the banking domain, offered a unique perspective on both traditional and modern career avenues in the sector.

During his address, Mr. Vivek M. K provided a comprehensive overview of the career pathways in banking, ranging from commercial banking, corporate banking, investment banking, and financial services, to specialized areas like IT Security, Risk Management, and Compliance. He also emphasized the role of the Reserve Bank of India as the nation’s central bank, its responsibilities in regulating monetary policy, and the various employment opportunities it offers for management graduates.

A significant portion of the session was dedicated to discussing the skills, qualifications, and competitive examinations essential for entry into the banking sector. Mr. Vivek guided students on how to systematically prepare for these exams by focusing on key areas such as quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, English proficiency, general awareness, and banking-specific knowledge. He stressed the importance of developing consistent study habits, practicing mock tests, staying updated with current affairs, and building conceptual clarity to succeed in exams such as IBPS, SBI PO, RBI Grade B, and other banking recruitment tests. His practical tips helped demystify the exam preparation process and gave students a clear roadmap to follow.

The interactive nature of the session enabled students to pose questions, seek clarifications, and understand the real-world challenges faced in the banking industry. The discussion covered both public and private banking career opportunities, shedding light on the work culture, career growth prospects, and the evolving landscape of the sector amidst digital transformation.

In summary, “Shaping Futures: Exploring Careers in Banking Sector” proved to be an invaluable platform for the students of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. It successfully combined expert knowledge with career guidance, providing actionable strategies for banking exam preparation and motivating young management aspirants to envision their professional future with confidence and determination.
