Workshop on Enhancing Literrature Review Efficiency with AI Tools

Image
Dr. Gowtham R Assistant Professor , School of commerce , Finance and accountancy .Christ University Bangalore introduced the audience to several innovative tools, offering a fresh perspective on how technology can enhance academic and professional research. Introduction to Cutting-Edge Tools The session began with a comprehensive introduction to tools like Research Rabbit and Consensus AI, which are designed to aid researchers in streamlining their workflow. These tools, equipped with in-built software capabilities, facilitate the process of searching for research papers and authoritative sources. By employing such tools, researchers can efficiently locate relevant data, helping them make informed decisions without getting overwhelmed by the sheer volume of available information. Benefits for Research Enthusiasts The highlight of the session was the emphasis on how these tools can significantly reduce the time spent on manual research. Dr. Goutham stressed that tools like Research Rabb...

Power BI Workshop: A six-hour- continuous hands-on Empowering session for BSc Data Science Students

Image
CHRIST Infotech, the research and development center of CHRIST, successfully organized a comprehensive workshop on Microsoft Power BI for fifth-semester BSc (Data Science) students. The workshop was conducted on October 21, 2024. It offered an intensive 6-hour hands-on training session. The workshop was led by Ms. P S Anusha who is software developer at CHRIST Infotech and Prof. K T Thomas, Head, CHRIST Infotech. The workshop was meticulously designed to equip students with the essential skills required to effectively utilize Power BI for data analysis and visualization. The Topics included Data Cleaning and Preparation: Students learned techniques to cleanse and preprocess data, ensuring its accuracy and reliability for analysis. The attendees were given a manipulated dataset so that they will try to fix the issues in the data and learn data cleaning by hands-on way. Data Modeling: The workshop delved into the art of creating robust data models, which serve as the foundation for insi...

Birdathon

Image
On the morning of Sunday, 13th October 2024, members of Avian Allies from Christ (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, participated in a bird walk around the Central Block. The event commenced at 7:00 AM, providing participants with an opportunity to appreciate the serene environment and observe various bird species inhabiting the campus. The walk began in the lush, green area surrounding the Learner’s Cafe, allowing students to experience the tranquil surroundings characterized by diverse trees and plants that serve as habitats for numerous birds. During the walk, students successfully identified 18 different bird species, which included two rare sightings. One of the highlights of the event was the sighting of two Grey-headed Lapwings, a species considered rare in this region. This moment garnered excitement among the participants and was a key point of interest during the walk. In addition to this rare sighting, the group observed several common birds, enhancing their exper...

ZAVION'24

Image
Zavion’24 was a national level tech fest organised by the department of Data Science on 4th & 5th October it was a 2 days fest with six events and games: 1.  "Capital Craft":   was an engaging two-round event that combined elements of economic simulation and stock market strategy, providing participants with a dynamic and immersive experience. The event began with the first round, "Stonk’s Dilemma," where teams faced the high-pressure environment of a simulated stock market. Participants had to make real-time decisions about buying, selling, or holding stocks, adapting their strategies based on the evolving market conditions announced during each segment. The fast-paced nature of this round kept everyone on their toes, as teams eagerly analyzed market trends and reacted swiftly to maximize their portfolio's profitability. Participants demonstrated impressive analytical skills and strategic thinking, contributing to a highly competitive atmosphere that was...

Session 1: Reinforcement Learning: Concepts, Algorithms and Real-World Applications – by Prof. Jos Panen The session on Reinforcement Learning (RL) provided a clear and engaging introduction to this fundamental area of artificial intelligence. It began with the analogy of a child learning to walk, highlighting the core RL principle of trial and error, where agents learn from the outcomes of their actions. Prof. Jos gave a classic problem involving a goose, a farmer, a fox, and a sack of grain to illustrate decision-making under constraints and the need for strategic planning in uncertain environments. This led to a brief overview of search algorithms, which are essential for finding optimal solutions in RL. The session also differentiated RL from supervised and unsupervised learning, explaining that while supervised learning relies on labeled data and unsupervised learning identifies patterns in unlabelled data, RL focuses on decision-making based on rewards from the environment. Appli...
