Seminar Conducted On `The Analysis Of The Union Budget Of India 2020–2021’ By Dr Jyoti Chandiramani, Director, Symbiosis School of Economics

An extremely enlightening seminar was organized for the students of Management and Economics on 13th February 2020 and the topic was `The Analysis of the Union Budget of India 2020–2021’. The guest speaker was Dr Jyoti Chandiramani, Director, Symbiosis School of Economics and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Pune.


 The lecture was conducted in the Seminar Hall, Management Block, Lavasa and at the outset it began with an in-depth analysis of Union Budget 2020-2021. Professor Jyoti wisely pointed out the pros and cons of the same and briefed students aware about the current status of Indian economy. Dr Jyoti further spoke about the various components of the union budget. She specifically mentioned that the budget posed certain challenges to the present economy but also intends to bring some positive changes in the current economic scenario.

The main motto of the budget is a focus on aspirational India, economic development and a concerned society which strives hard for a better society. Dr Jyoti Chandiramani further spoke about the ways and means being adopted by the government to manage its deficit. She clarified that the economy has to come up to the mark to achieve a higher level of growth rate.

It was quite enlightening to know how the economy has been operating over the years. Dr Jyoti explained the entire budgeting process and it was highly informative. She clarified the facts with the support of essential graphs pertaining to different concepts. It was enlightening for the students to know about the latest trends in the economic sector as the lecture progressed. During the course of the talk, Dr Jyoti used different economic indicators and compared Indian Economy with developed and developing nations to give a better understanding of the concept and to justify new policies. The entire session was highly informative and the students have immensely benefited from the lecture. The seminar was coordinated by Assistant Professor, Kedar Vishnu Shankarrao, Department of Economics, CHRIST, Lavasa.
