Inter Collegiate Sports Fest - CHRISPO'20 Commenced



CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa has organized its first Inter Collegiate Sports Fest - CHRISPO'20 from 14th to 16th February 2020. The inaugural ceremony commenced at 9:30 AM on 14th February 2020 in the Football Ground, opposite Management Block under the watchful guidance of Academic Coordinator, Dr Fr Arun Antony. The entire CHRIST fraternity assembled to witness the opening ceremony. Nearly 200 participants from various schools and colleges, 36 teams and 50 matches is an impressive score to start a tournament wherein the players will compete with each other to clinch the coveted trophy in basketball, football and badminton. The teams have primarily come from Pune and Bengaluru.

The brand new trophies looked bright and inviting and all the players have begun to eye for the prize possession. The scene has been set, photographers positioned at strategic places and poised to capture the action. The dance performance by Kalarpana team on a medley of songs was well synchronized. The entire opening ceremony was managed and coordinated by enthusiastic volunteers of SWO team under the guidance of their teachers and Prakash P, Sports Facilitator. The enthusiastic participation was visible everywhere as students could be seen guiding, helping and arranging for the event.

Just before the official opening, the entire basketball court jam-packed with cheering squads reverberated with the sound of loud cheers then players representing football and basketball came forward and commenced the event with a kick and a shoot respectively. With each shot the fire crackers burst to set the mood and tempo. The colourful confetti added to the spectacle while the audience clapped, cheered and waved to kick start the three-day long event. The entire event was anchored by Baishali Gurung and Nihal Thapa. The first event of the day was a football match between CHRIST, Lavasa and CHRIST, Bengaluru. The live action was witnessed by enthusiastic spectators as the teams played with great zeal. One could catch a glimpse of defense techniques which were visibly taught by the coaches. The students are eagerly looking forward to the matches in the days to come. It is expected that the matches will be played in its true spirit as they will practice discipline, right attitude, control and true sportsmanship spirit on and off the field during the next three days.
