Law Students visit Mumbai for a Study Trip

On 10th February 2020 the Faculty and students of the School of Law, Christ University, Lavasa were invited to Dosti House; the American Library attached to the American Consulate, BKC Mumbai to attend informative sessions on International Law. They were warmly welcomed by the Library staff; Ms. Irene and Ms Sitalaxmi. They observed the well-stocked library and noticed an extensive e-library too.

The students were first addressed by Mr Ben East, the public relations officer from the American Consulate. Then they attended an insightful lecture on International Law by the Consul, Ms Nazima Razick, the Chief of American Citizen Services and Consular Information Units. It was an interactive session wherein the students, faculty as well as the officials at the Consulate took an active part.  The students were also shown two important documentaries on current topics. They had the privilege to move around American Library and were also offered fifty percent discount for its annual membership and complimentary membership was given to the teaching faculty.

The evening was well spent exploring Mumbai, the City of Dreams with specific reference to architecture, food and culture of the Financial Capital of India. It was a pleasure to walk around High Court, RBI, Asiatic Library, David Sassoon Library, Army Navy Building, Admiralty Court, Ballard Pier, Kala Godha, City Civil and Session Court, University of Mumbai, Regal Cinema, Wodehouse Church, Police Headquarters, Gateway of India and the Taj Palace.

The entire visit provided a refreshing change from the regular classroom sessions and moreover it was an informative and interesting way of introducing a new topic of the curriculum. The students and faculty members found the brief trip very beneficial. The entire trip was efficiently coordinated by Dr Daisy Alexander, Professor and Head of the Department, School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa.
