Investor Education Programme

On the 30th and 31st of January, 2023, the School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy in association with Lotus Knowlwealth Pvt.Ltd. and Bombay Stock Exchange organized an Investor Education Programme for all 3 batches of BCOM FA students. The sessions were online sessions conducted on the Zoom platform and covered topics pertaining to Capital Market Awareness, Introduction to Mutual Funds and Financial Planning. There were three separate sessions for each of the three batches; the first- and second-year students had their sessions concurrently on 30th January at 4:30 PM while the final-year students had their session on 31st January at 4:30 PM.


The first- and final-year students were addressed by Mr Ramchandra Bhat. Both sessions covered various pertaining topics regarding how students may utilize the resources provided by the Bombay Stock Exchange. The first-year batch had the session on 30th January at 4:30 PM, delivered by Mr Bhat. The speaker provided the students with detailed knowledge pertaining to the workings of the BSE as well as provided them with advice regarding the management of their mutual funds. The students made ample use of the time given to them to ask Mr Bhat relevant questions and were able to attain a deeper understanding of the inner functions of the industry. Since the students were only in the first-year of their undergraduate, Mr Bhat was able to provide them with a comprehensive look at the industry as well provide with advice as to how they can apply their analytic skills in the future.

The final-year students were addressed by Mr Ramchandra Bhat on the 31st of January at 4:30 PM. Mr Bhat advised the final-years on how they can make the most of the knowledge that they have acquired over the course of their undergraduate and translate those skills into real world scenarios. Mr Bhat provided the students with invaluable industry knowledge to help prepare them when they soon venture out into the world.

The second-year students were addressed by Dr Sajan Acharya on 30th January, 4:30 PM. The speaker addressed the students regarding topics regarding Capital Market Awareness and Mutual Funds that fell in line with what they are learning in their curriculum. The resource person also provided the students with knowledge of the industry, detailing the inner workings of the industry and what is to be expected of the students once they transition from the classroom to a professional work environment.

Each of the three talks occurred concurrently for each batch via the Zoom online platform, hitting on topics pertaining to finance, analytics, and the role of the Bombay Stock Exchange. Each of the three guest speakers brought with them years of experience that proved invaluable to the student body. The students were able to pose their questions to the speakers who enthusiastically answered each one. The advice provided by the industry experts also proved invaluable to the students.  The organizers at Lotus Knowlwealth also expressed interest in further collaborations with the University, offering future courses from experts affiliated with the Bombay Stock Exchange free of cost.

The sessions were highly beneficial as the students were able to not only acquire in-depth knowledge on topics pertaining to Capital Markets and mutual funds but they were also able to directly interact with industry experts who had expertise in working with the Bombay Stock Exchange. Even though the session was held online, the students were highly involved and took the opportunity to clear any doubts they had. The sessions were of great use to the students.
