ELYSIAN: VOGUE OF LAW

The first edition of the programme, Elysian was organised by the Students Bar Association's Arts, Culture and Theatre Committee to be held on 15 February 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Open Stage of the Central Block, University. The event began with the emcees, Prateek Singh and Annriya Liz Siji welcoming the Director and Academic Coordinator, the Head of the Department of School of Law, Judges for the event namely Ms. Mehak Vohra, Mr. Suraj Karande and Ms. Ayushi Sadana, respected faculty members and students. They introduced the theme of the event as the Vogue of Law. The theme was based on the Y2K aesthetic, which was famous for metallic fashion. The Vogue of Law was an inter-class fashion show competition conducted by the School of Law, among the First, Second, Third, and Fourth years of Law.

The event began with a dance team performing on famous Bollywood numbers from the late 90’s and early 2000’s. After the mood was set, the audience interacted with the emcees on Bollywood Trivia Questions. The trivia was answered by the audience as well as the faculty members present on the scene. The main event started after the trivia. With a total of twenty six participants from nine classes, each one of them owned the stage while walking on the ramp. It started with First Year BA LLB Section A, followed by First Year BA LLB Section B, First Year BBA LLB, Second Year BA LLB, Second Year BBA LLB, Third Year BA LLB, Third Year BBA LLB, Fourth Year BA LLB and Fourth Year BBA LLB. As the audience was so engrossed in the show, they were cheering loud and clear for their own class. Though they were not judged by the criteria for the competition, the organising committee members and random people from the audience also walked the ramp with their friends cheering for them loudly in the crowd. All the fashion show participants walked the ramp again in a symmetry showing of their grace and confidence. They had chest numbers for clear identification by the judges and audience. The judges released the top three for the evening after which an audience poll was conducted. For the polling a QR Code was circulated in the students groups so that the audience would vote for their favourite participant among the top three. The audience were given two minutes for the polling. In the meanwhile, the judges calculated the scores.

This programme continued with the comeback of the Bollywood dance troupe, recreating a feeling from the 90’s. After their refreshing performance, the Head of Department was invited onto the stage to declare the results and award the certificates to the ‘winner’ and the ‘most popular’. Reya Dutta from First Year BA LLB Section B won the title ‘Most Popular’ with the audience poll while Fourth Year Nirmal Rajpurohit from BBA LLB was the ‘Winner’ of the competition. The student convenor, Sakshi Verma delivered the vote of thanks followed by a poem by Abhishek Pandey. The programme for the evening came to an end as students from varied departments enjoyed the food stalls set up by the students from School of Law.
