CIMA SPORTS FEST

 Day 1

CIMA Sports Fest 2023, a much-awaited event started with Handball and Volleyball on 9th January. The game started at 5:15 pm at Football Turf, Central Block, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa. 

Handball

1st Match

First match was between Samurais and Spartans. The match started with a piece of brief information about the game and rules of the game. Both the teams were very strong enough and defended each other very well. Samurais was leading by 2 points in the first half. After half time 5 goals by Mamta, and Spartans won the match by 1 goal.

2nd Match 

The first match was between the Knights and the Vikings. Vriddhi from the Knights scored the first goal, followed by Rispa, scoring another one for the team. After halftime, Rachel scored another goal for the team leading to a lead of 3 points. Sahitya from the knights tried for another goal but was blocked by an amazing save by Gajal. The Knights won the match 3 goals.

3rd Match (Finals)

Mamtha scored the first goal of the match for the Spartans. Soon after, another goal was scored by Rispa for the Knights. Mamtha went on to score another goal for the team. Sahitya from Knights showed amazing skill as a Goalkeeper. The knights evened the score with an amazing goal by Respa. Mamtha scored two goals, simultaneously putting the Spartans in the lead by 2 points. The Spartans won the match. 

Volleyball

1st Match 

The first match was between the Knights and Vikings. The first set was closely contested, with the teams trading points back and forth. The Vikings took an early lead. Team Vikings struggled to find a rhythm on offense and could not stop the Knight’s powerful attacks. So, the first Set has won by the Team Knights against Vikings with the score of 16-6. The second set started at 5:25 pm. The Knights took an early lead and Vishal has started the match. At the end Knights won the match.

2nd Match

The match between the Samurai vs Spartans. The Samurai started with serving the ball end score one then Spartan scored 1 by serving the ball and then samurai did out and Spartan got 1 point. Alvino mistakenly touched the ball which was going out and ended up giving 1 point to samurai. From samurai Pradesh did out and Spartan got 1 point. The game went till 15-9 with samurai leading then Hari got substituted with Abhiram and Johan got substituted with Mohit the score went on increasing for samurai with one point in each server and eventually Samurai had a victorious, winning sets of 3.

3rd Match (Finals)

The final match between the Knights vs Samurai. The first set was closely contested, with the teams trading points back and forth. The Samurai took an early lead. Team Samurai has secured 8 points and team Knights has secured 5 points. The final score for the first set was knights and Samurai has  (15-13).

The second set has started. The Samurai took an early lead and Shankar has started the match. Team Knights added the final point which has smashed by Surya and the Team knights has set the victory with the score of 15 – 8.

Day 2 

BASKETBALL

The Basketball Match was held on the 10th of January 2023 on Basketball Court, Central Block, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa. The match started by 4:45 pm and consisted of 4 rounds, 8 minutes each. They were given a break of 2 minutes between each of the quarters. All four clans were to face each other and the best team would win.

1st Match

The first match was played between Spartans vs Vikings where Vikings scored a total of 22 points whereas Spartans scored a total of 7 points. For Vikings the main scorer was Rikkin Renny who scored a total of 10 baskets which equalled to 22 points and for Spartans Antony scored 5 points and Aishwarya Thomas contributed 2 points. Vikings won this match with a margin of 15 points.

2nd Match

The second match was played between Knights and Samurai were Knights scored a total of 31 points and Samurai were able to score a total of 9 points. For Knights the main scorer was Surya Kumar who scored 20 points on his own, followed by Sahil Pradeep who scored 8 points, vrddhi with 2 points and finally Sanskar with 1 point, totalling the final score to reach 31 points. For samurai Abru Shaju scored a total of 9 points. Knights won this match. With a margin of 22 points.

3rd Match (Final)

The final match was played between Knights and Vikings where Knights scored a total of 42 points and Vikings were able to score a total of 16 points. For Knights the main scorer was Surya Kumar who scored 23 points on his own, followed by Sahil Pradeep who scored 13 points, and finally Sanskar with 6 points, totalling the final score to reach 42 points. For Vikings Rikkin Renny scored a total of 16 points on his own. Knights won this match. With a margin of 26 points.

Day 3 

FOOTBALL

The Football Match was held on the 11th of January 2023 on Football Turf, Central Block, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa. The match started by 4:35 pm and consisted of 2 halves, 10 minutes each. They were given a break of 2 minutes between the two halves. All four clans were to face each other and the best team would win.

Match 1-Spartans vs Knights

Knights start off as Shaurya passes to Athul and Athul scores in the 2nd min. Half time score was (0-1). Alvino came in as a substitute for Rehan Mathew. Noel passed the ball to Vardaan for the start of the second half. Faizan saved and avoided a second goal for the knights. Vriddhi Goyal put in a good effort. Shaurya scored at the 17th min and Knights won the game (2-0).

Match 2- Vikings vs Samurais

Samurais kicked off Johan to Sasi. Hari scored for samurais and the first Half score was  (1-0). In the second half, Pritty’s handball resulted in a penalty and Shivhari scored the penalty and the time got over with a tie between two teams.

In Penalties- Sasi,Haikrishnan and Johan scored for samurais and Rehan Patel, Shiavhari scored for Vikings. Santosh missed the penalty resulting in a (3-4) win for the Samurais in the penalties.

Match 3 FINALS- Knights vs Samurais

Samurai kicked off Harikrishnan passed to Johan. Jose made a good save as the knight’s keeper. The half time score was (0-0). Johan scored in the second half for the Samurais and 2 mins later Athul levelled the score and Shaurya scored another goal for knights making the score (2-1). Johan was subbed for Gokul and Sasi later in the game made way for Johan and Knights won the finals with a score of (2-1).

Day 4 

CRICKET

The cricket match of CIMA Clan Sports 2023 was held on the 12th of January 2023 at the football ground of MBA block of Christ (Deemed to be) University, Pune, Lavasa Campus. All four clans: Spartans, Vikings, Knights, and Samurais were to face each other for the battle.

1st match : SPARTANS VS VIKINGS

The first match was held between the Spartans and Vikings. The match started off at 4.35 pm. The match was 6 overs. Spartans won the toss and chose to bowl. The opening batsman for the first innings was A Visak and Surya. A Visak was the highest scorer from Vikings with 6 runs. From Spartans, the highest number of wickets were taken by Vasanth with 3 wickets. The first innings ended with the final score of 26 (4) for Vikings. The second innings started off with openers Faizan Ansari and Deep Bhowmik. The highest runs were scored by Vardaan Samuel with 15 runs. Santhosh from Vikings took two wickets. Spartans won the match by 1 run.

2nd match : KNIGHTS VS SAMURAIS

The second match was held between Knights and Samurais. The match started off at 5.40 pm. The match was 6 overs. Samurais won the toss and chose to bowl. Ajinkya and Vishal from Knights were the opening batsmen. Ajinkya was the highest scorer with 14 runs. Aditya Pillai from Samurais scored 3 wickets for the team. The total score for Knights towards the end of the first innings was 41 with a loss of 6 wickets. The second innings started off with the opening batsman being Pragadeesh and Aditya. Pragadeesh scored the highest runs of 13 runs for his team. Vishal H from Knights was able to take 2 wickets for his team. The score for Samurais towards the end of the second innings was 23 with the loss of 4 wickets. Knights won the match by 18 runs.

Final match : KNIGHTS VS SPARTANS

The final match of cricket was conducted on 14th January, 2023 on the MBA football ground. The match started by —. Knights won the toss and chose to bat first. Athul and Vishal from Knights were the opening batsmen. The highest scorer from Knights was Athul with 42 runs. The first innings ended with a score of 68 runs for Knights with a loss of 2 wickets. The second innings was started off with Faizan Ansari and Vardaan Cecil from Spartans being the opening batsmen. The highest score was scored by Vardaan Cecil from Spartans with 25 runs. Surya, Ajnikya, Sanskar and Vishal from Knights took one wicket each for their team. The final score for Spartans towards the end of the match was 40 with a loss of 4 wickets. Knights won the match by 28 runs.

Day 5 

ATHELTICS

The Athletics was held on the 13th of January 2023 at the football ground of MBA block of Christ (Deemed to be) University, Pune, Lavasa Campus. The event started with 50 meters race at 5:00 pm and followed by shuttle relay and shot put. 

50 metres Race - Girls 

Three heats made up the 50-meter race, in which 14 students from different clan were competed. Six students who all finished the race in less time were chosen to compete in the finals after each student's time was recorded. The finalists were Prajwal, Janet, Akriti, Riya, Pritty, and Haritha. Prajwal from Samurai won first place, Pritty from Samurai won second place, and Janet from Samurai won third place.

50 metres Race - Boys 

Three heats made up the 50-meter race, in which 15 students from different clans were competed. Six students who all finished the race in less time were chosen to compete in the finals after each student's time was recorded. The finalists were Surya, Rehan, Reetam, Yesh, Gokul and Sasi. Surya from Knights won first place, Rehan from Spartans won second place, and the third place was a draw between Sasi from Samurai and Reetam from Vikings.

Shot put (Girls)

Every participant was permitted to throw the shot put three times, with the best throw being taken into consideration. 15 students participated in the competition and Pritty from Samurai won first place with 6.25meters distance, Tejesvi from Vikings won second palce with 5.70 metres distance and Arathy from Samurai won third place with 5.69 metrs distance. 

Shot put (Boys)

Every participant was permitted to throw the shot put two times, with the best throw being taken into consideration. 22 students participated in the competition and Siddharth from Knights won first place with 8.53 meters distance, Alen from Samurai won second palce with 8.28 metres distance and Surya from Knights won third place with 7.86 metrs distance. 

4*50-metres Shuttle Relay 

From each clan one team with 4 members (two girls and two boys) were allowed to participate in relay. Gokul, Sasi, Pritty and Prajwal from Samurai won the first place, Rehan Mathew, Akriti, Aiswarya and Alvino from Spartans won second place and Riya, Visak, Haritha and Reetam from Vikings won the third place.

CHESS

Match was held on the 13th of January 2023 at the Smart room of MBA block of Christ (Deemed to be) University, Pune, Lavasa Campus and the match started at 7.30 pm.

Rules:

• 10 min match no increment 

• Touch to play

• 3 illegal moves allowed 

• Same hand to touch clock which moves the pieces 

• If one player loses and other wins, then a 5 min Blitz match with one representative of the clan to determine the winner

Day 6 

BADMINTON

CIMA CLAN Sports 2023 Badminton was held on 14th January 2023. The match started at around 5:30 pm in the central block badminton court with the boy’s knockout round followed by girls’ knockout rounds and the finals. The match was played with a set point of 15 and 21 for knockouts and Finals respectively.

Match 1 – Knights VS Samurai (Boys)

The first match was held between Knights and Samurai (boys). Knights won both sets for 16 -15 and 15 -8 to march on to the finals. Siddharth & Surya represented the knight’s Clan, Pulkit & Hariharan for the Samurai.

Match 2 – Spartans VS Vikings (Boys)

Match 2 Spartans VS Vikings was held simultaneously on court 2. Vikings won both sets for 10-15 & 13-15 respectively. Thomas & Surya Represented the Vikings, Vardaan & Faizan represented the Spartans.

Match 3 Finals – Knights VS Vikings (Boys) – Finals

The Final match was held for a set point of 21/2 were the Knights won both the sets 21-11 & 21-14 respectively.

Match 1 Samurai VS Spartans (Girls)

Girls’ doubles started with Samurai VS Spartans. Samurai won both sets for 15-5 & 15-5 respectively. Pritty & Prajwal represented the Samurai, Naba & Anamika for Spartans.

Match 2 Knights VS Vikings (Girls)

Match 2 knights VS Vikings were held simultaneously on the second court were Knights beat Vikings for 15-10 & 15-6 simultaneously. Knights were represented by Rispa & Sahithya, Vikings by Angel & Richa.

Match 3 Finals Knights VS Samurai (Girls) - Finals

The Final match was held for a set point of 15/2 were the Samurai won both the sets 15-10 & 15-12respectively
