Investor Education Programme

On the 22nd of June, 2023, the School of Commerce, Finance, and Accountancy in association with Lotus Knowlwealth Pvt. Ltd. and Bombay Stock Exchange organized an Investor Education Programme for the second-and third-year batches of BCOM FA students. The sessions were conducted in the Smart Room, Management Block, and covered topics pertaining to Capital Market Awareness, Introduction to Mutual Funds, and Financial Planning. There were two separate sessions for each batch; the second-year students had their sessions at 1:30 PM while the final-year students had their session on at 2:30 PM. Each session lasted approximately one hour.

The sessions were conducted by Mr Pankaj Mathkar. Mr. Pankaj is an Electronics Engineer with over two decades of work experience in the Financial IT space. He has Training Expertise and was employed with an MNC Bank, where he handled multiple functions including IT Projects and Program Management, Risk Management, IT Budget Planning, Resource Optimization, Process Enhancement. He is an Investor and has domain expertise in the Capital Market with in-depth knowledge of Multiple Investment Products.

Mr Pankaj informed the students about topics regarding Capital Market Awareness and Mutual Funds that fell in line with what they were learning in their curriculum. The resource person also provided the students with knowledge of the industry, detailing the inner workings of the industry and what is to be expected of the students once they transition from the classroom to a professional work environment. He also briefed the students about the inner workings of the Bombay Stock Exchange and how the students can utilize the BSE’s online resources for their own financial benefit.

Many students utilized the opportunity to question Mr Pankaj regarding how best they can utilize the knowledge from their curriculum in a practical setting. The overall feedback from the students was largely positive and they learned how they can apply their curriculum knowledge practically and were also able to interact with an expert from the industry.

OUTCOMES OF THE EVENT

1. Outcome 1: The students acquired in-depth knowledge on topics pertaining to Capital Markets and mutual funds.

2. Outcome 2: Students were able to directly interact with industry experts who had expertise in working with the Bombay Stock Exchange.
