Orientation Programme, 2023 - School of Law
The orientation programme for the academic year 2023 was inaugurated on August 7, 2023, at 11 AM. The inaugural address was delivered by the Program Coordinator, Ms. Shivani Jadhav followed by the Director and HOD’s address to the students. The students were informed about the School of Law Programme Structure, Attendance Policies and Etiquette by the Programme Coordinators followed by lunch. Post lunch a session on Introduction to the Legal Profession was taken by Dr S Somu which was followed by an introductory session on the CHRIST Ethos and Culture Revisited, Philosophy of Holistic Education & Graduate Attributes by the academic coordinator.
Day 2 began with the orientation on Internship and placements by the Coordinators of the Internship committee, followed by a session on Research at Christ University, orientation by the IT Department and Centre for Counselling and Health services before lunch. Post lunch the bridge course designed on the basics of law commenced with lectures by Ms Surabhi Singh, Ms Amrutha Valavi and Mr Sugam Shine.
Day 3 began with lectures designed under the bridge course by Mr Suraj Karande followed by orientation from the Accommodation and Security Services and Examination office before lunch. Post lunch the students were led by Dr. Jibrael Jose for the Hand Holding Session.
Day 4 began with the hand-holding session by Dr Jibrael Jose, followed by the orientation by National Cadet Corps & Sports, Centre for Social Action, Committees under the Student Bar Association, Student Council and Student Welfare Office followed by lunch. Post lunch a lecture designed under the bridge course was taken by Ms. Nikita.
Day 5 began with the introduction to the Faculty, the School of Law followed by the introduction to the mentoring policies of the School of Law and lectures on the bridge course on the law by Ms Shilpa, Mr Samson, Dr Salu and Mr Kalpesh. Post lunch a session on Hand Holding was conducted by Dr. Jibrael Jose.
On Day 6, Adv. Prasad Kulkarni, Criminal Lawyer, Pune District and Session Court took a session on “Think like a lawyer” followed by an orientation by the Library and Hand Holding Session by Mr Samson S.
In conclusion, the School of Law's Orientation Programme for the first semester students gave them an insight into what their journey would look like as a law student. And through Adv. Prasad Kulkarni's valuable insights, students were equipped with a comprehensive understanding of the path ahead, igniting their motivation to embark on their own journeys toward becoming ethical, knowledgeable, and impactful lawyers.
